Great Intro to the Hobie Kayak Line
This is an excellent introduction to the Hobie fishing kayak line. While this kayak is on a lower tier of the model line, it is not short on quality and features. The drive is not made to be reversible, but you can pull it out of the "drive dock" and reverse it if you need to. It does have kick up fins. I use it primarily for fishing and it comes well optioned for any kayak angler. Also, with the preinstalled track system you can add additional fishing gear. Overall, an excellent kayak.
high fun factor … but.
My third kayak in 15 years and my first Hobie kayak. The fun factor is high. Its nice to fish or tour wo having to use the paddle. I sailed a Hobie Cats back in the day and they were highly finished and good quality. I knew this 12’ was a roto molded boat w an eye on the entry level kayaker but the boat is a bit rough in its finishing - sloppy is a good word. The weld seam was a bit roughly finished, stickers were loosely applied and there are a couple of sizable dings and a gouge on the body. Because this boat is going to be used in salt water for fishing I didnt have any qualms about the finish issues. I just think for $2k it would have been a bit nicer from the factory. Also noted that Hobje makes a turbo fin add on….. why not just make the fins bigger in the first olace and charge an extra $5 on the base price. The turbo fins I think are 60.00. A bit of a money grab. I am going to add the sail kit when they become avail. But between the boats weight and me in the boat I am nit expecting blistering speeds. So that all said. Its fun. Its heavy. Tad bit expensive. But I am looking forward to using it for many years. T
Love it
I was thinking about getting this for about 3 weeks. I finally just went and bought it and it was one of the best purchases I made this summer, yes its a little expensive but you get what you pay for. This kayak is stable yes it rocks in the waves but I never felt like it was going to tip over and I also stand on it . So if you are unsure but might want it just get it. I just put it in my truck bed with a truck bed extender and it stays , also get the kayak cart to move it to the water and back well worth the money in my opinion
Great Kayak
Love this kayak! Plenty of room for gear & I can even stand up & cast. It's a bit pricey, but it's an investment. I look forward to years of exploring lakes & rivers on mine
Great pedal kayak…so much better than paddling.
This kayak is stable and lots of fun. It’s a 2 person job to load and unload. The seat is marginal…no lumbar support and no cushioning. For the price, Hobie should have a better seat. I’d still buy it again.
