54 quart Coleman cooler the best out there

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Omg, this cooler is amazing. Not just saying that. My ice stays cold for soooo long, like days if don't open alot. Took it to the creek, and still had ice after 4 hours in 90 degree Temps. I've tried every cooler on market, bc my hubby fishes everyday, and if he loves it too, we know its good. He stays all day on lake, and came home bragging his stuff still ice cold, his beer, lol. I want buy another brand but this one. I'm sold, and so will you. Got a lock on it too , go keep kids out, if need be. The quality is amazing. Just fell in love. Worth every penny, especially in ice

Great Look & Function!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Coleman Steel Ice Chest has far exceeded my expectations! The design is sleek but with a vintage flare. It is easy to keep clean of smudges by using a microfiber cloth. The latch is easy to use and keeps a good seal on the ice chest. The handles have a grip making it comfortable to carry. All materials are high quality. A wonderful feature is the bottle opener—it’s perfect to take on the beach or a party! The inside is easy to clean and drain. I highly recommend it to my friends and family! I also receive many compliments on it.

Favorite cooler

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Coleman Reunion 54 quart steel belted Cooler to replace an inexpensive plastic one that couldn't keep drinks or food cold in the high heat. All coolers were steel when I was a child and this one brings back many memories, while yet, it keeps items much cooler and longer than those did. The inside is lined and has nice deep trench that leads to the release spout. A great feature. My husband really likes the bottle opener on it and that the top with hold over 200 lbs of weight, making it an extra seat when needed. Absolutely love the Coleman Reunion cooler. It keeps items cold for a really long time, even in high heat.

Not true to Original

The cooler is close to original, but not quite. I know that some materials have been updated to modern materials, but the design has changed negatively in my opinion. The latch is the first issue I have. The original has a flange against flange locking system which will not open unless unlocked. The new design is a pop system that really doesn’t require you to ever unlock it, just pull or push. Second, what happened to the meat tray that use to come with Coleman coolers? Is this some kind of money saver or something?

Classic Cooler

I appreciate the classic/retro design of this cooler. It's a nice option to dress up a house party with something more presentable than a big blue plastic cube. Even with it's stainless steel shell, it still feels lightweight when empty for ease of storing. Nice features: heavy duty lid for sitting on if needed, bottle opener, folding handles that don't add a lot of dimension. I also like that the lid latches, though I expected it to latch tighter than it does; there's still a bit of play when latched. This hasn't yet been put through the ringer of a multi-day music fest in 90+ heat, but for the day long use it's received so far it's been great. A solid, classic cooler option to have in your arsenal.

Sleek and Durable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the sleek look of this cooler! It is advertised to hold temperature/keep ice cold for 4 days which it easily does! It is on the larger side (54 quarts) and easily held all of our food for a 4 day camping trip for our family of 4, but still fit nicely in the trunk of our small car with the rest of our camping supplies. The cooler construction is very nice! The latch is nice and sturdy and the cooler lid can hold up to 250lbs (worked as an in a pinch chair!) When we were all done with our trip, the cooler was super easy to drain! It has a built in channel drain, so you don't have to awkwardly tilt it to empty it. We will be using this cooler quite a bit this summer!

Great features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great cooler! It’s very unique looking, with the stainless steel. One feature I love is the bottle opener that it has on it, I think that is a great feature to have. One thing I was disappointed about was the cooler not having any wheels. This cooler gets very heavy when it’s filled with ice and refreshments so some wheels would be awesome to have. The cooler keeps everything very cold for a long time! Especially with the heatwave we have been having, it’s nice to be able to open this to get a cold beverage. Another cool feature is the plug at the bottom to remove the water from the cooler. This definitely is a really cool cooler, again it would be a lot better with wheels.

Classic Coleman Cooler Delivers!!

Classic Coleman holds up and does the job while looking great in the process! I used to have this cooler but had to leave it behind in our last move. I purchased the 54-gallon, silver version before a party weekend and it delivered just in time. We filled it with three bags of ice and a bunch of mini sodas and water. Almost (5) days later, I was asked to bring cold drinks to another school event. I was shocked to find a fully frozen ice bag still in the cooler along with several drinks, still ice cold. I drained the water and carried the cooler with a few more added drinks to the event and it was all perfectly ice cold. Amazing how well this cooler works!!! And it looks great too. :-)

Sharp looking, sturdy but a little heavy

External: This cooler is a metal clad plastic internal construction. I think the metal outside looks really nice and so far it’s resisting stain and wear really well. The lock keeps the lid closed and is pretty smart. If you accidentally have the locking mechanism in the closed position you can still shut the lid without breaking anything. The handles are rigid with rubber coatings. I’ve used coolers in the past where the handles are plastic and flex or worse are rope. These metal handles keep a very consistent angle that doesn’t smash your fingers. Interior: The inside walls are pretty vertical, meaning the space is large. You can really pack stuff in. The drain at the bottom as a recessed channel so you don’t have to tip as much to empty. The black color of the interior plastic will also make internal staining unnoticeable if it happens. When liquid water is inside and the cooler is tilted the lid will leak slowly. Functionality: Sadly it’s late fall as I review this so I can’t get a true Texas summer feel, but I still wanted to test the four day ice claim. I loaded the cooler up with normal car camping things and put in ice then just left it closed. I got over 3 days until I couldn’t hear ice inside when I shook it. The amount of ice I used was lower than what I could have and I bet I really could have gotten the 4 days. That’s impressive. Afterwards the drain worked great, I had to tip to get the last maybe cup of water out. The bottle opener is a cool touch and works as one would expect. I’m a big dude and felt totally comfortable sitting (and standing) on the cooler. That’s all been positive so far which brings me to the only negative I find out this cooler: weight. I measured it on a highly scientific … bathroom scale and got 16.8 lbs. That’s about double what the standard plastic cooler of the same size weighs. However all that weight is adding value through the insulation, construction etc so I don’t think it’s a major detractor. This is still substantially lighter than some of the competitor coolers. I plan to use this as a car cooler for when I’m camp and trailhead use. I’d go 4.5 stars if that were possible, but will bump to 5 since it’s better than a 4.

Good looking cooler with lots of space

This cooler has been great. I have used it for several different types of trips now. It holds a lot and has kept all food very cold in all scenarios. It wipes down nicely and also has a drain. I put some frozen and cold food with just a few ice packs and packed it on a trip. 4 hours later, things were still frozen! I thought for sure they would thaw so that was a great surprise. I do wish it had wheels since it holds so much and gets heavy! The lid somehow got a small dent on one of my first trips, so I do worry about about the durability but so far no other dents have happened and it still is keeping things cold. The cooler also has a latch that locks the cooler shut. I found that if it’s overstuffed, the latch doesn’t hold. It would be great if it did stay locked since I want it to stay sealed so I had to remove some items to keep it latched. Finally, I love that the handles lay flush on the sides so I can pack the cooler very tightly in my car. I plan on using this cooler on camping trips but will most likely also leave it in my trunk for groceries too since it holds so much and keeps things very cold. Love that it doesn’t take up too much space. I would recommend checking this cooler out.
