The negative review posted here was helpful in that the new Butora runs small, so I was able to get one size down for my son who has a wide foot, but it is excellent shoe when you get the right size. The local climb gym offers size 7. The 6 fits perfect; climbed 1.5 hours in them & was thrilled to finally not have any neg. issues. Tried many worthy brands (scarpa, evolv, la sportiva) & walked around in them, but glad we made the right choice with this Butora, Komet for wide feet.
I normally don't buy wide fit, but my foot is a marginally wide. I wear a size 8.5, bought these in a 9 figuring for a gym shoe maybe I would wear socks in them. I couldn't barely get my foot in it and once I finally got my foot in they were beyond painful. For a shoe that is marketed as a wide shoe and I up-sized, I can't wear them. I want a tight fit, not a painful fit, I'm guessing I would have to go up at least two full sizes, not sure why there is so much variance in climbing shoes now? So, they don't run small, they run super small. My current climbing shoes are a 9 and aren't made wide, but they fit. My advice, don't buy these online since they are far from running to size. These are going back.
If a shoe doesn't fit you, it isn't a bad shoe. Just return it and get the proper size or a different shoe that fits better. This shoe fits me perfectly and has been treating me well for the past 4 months at the bouldering gym. I'm not advanced, just climbing V1-V2 level. Way better than the rental shoes.
