I still like the tent and have both the 3 person and the 2 person. I did have the 2 person leak a small amount through the roof zipper on a 14 day Quetico canoe trip last summer. I could see it on the mesh of the tent. Massive amounts didn’t come through. Not sure it ever actually dripped through the mesh of the main body. Was on my mind though all night! Did it drip? Did it just drip on my sleeping bag? It didn’t but definitely didn’t like it. So I just seam sealed both the 3 person tent and the 2 person tent I own. Still think it’s a great tent! They need to get rid of the zipper idea in the rainfly though. Now that the lighter tougher, more rainproof fabric cam out upgrade it to that!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ikos - TR2 is a great tent with an awesome design and effective tarp. Two people are able to comfortably sit up in the tent because of the unique design allowing for ample headroom. A cargo loft keeps small items off of the tent floor, and the venting is appreciated. Lightweight and compact, it fits into a duffle bag, with sleeping bags, pillows, kitchen and clothing for two! Perfect for car or airplane travel.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The tent is built with amazing material, it is sturdy and looks very durable while also being fairly lightweight for it’s materials. I had read online that they had hd a water infiltration during a storm I. Patagonia while trying it out. I assumed the storm they had was something else and that it was not likely to happen here in the US. The first time I tried it out, we got stormy weather and a lot of rain - I was so excited to camp in the rain. But quickly, the water started coming in. We had a lot of rain, but it was a pretty standard storm for northern canada and Vermont . The rain came through the air vent (as pictured on one of the photos) and was leaking steady on our sleeping bags all night. We ended up having to place a towel (pic) under that closed and zipped vent to stop the leak. In the morning, there was a lot of condensation on the rain cover of the tent that was also leaking through the bug fly (which is the only fabric between un and the rain cover of the tent). No need to say I was disappointed. I have however contacted customer service and, as usual, STS service is incredible. They are currently evaluating the tent and will let me know in the upcoming week if it is a design fault or something with the specific tent I received.
I own both the 2 person and 3 person Ikos tents now. Used 3 person 13 nights in Wabakimi PP in Ontario. We had plenty of rain over this trip. I did t have any leaking. I zipped the roof rainfly zipper closed to the middle not open at all. I might seam seal the zippers on both tents though as I don’t feel I really need a zipper in the rain fly. I do use an inner plastic liner though and did also get the footprint. Tent is great for how much it opens up with different options for having the rainfly on but more open. Was cool though so I tended to close one sides doors off. Then leave the side open I was getting in and out of. I think the weight to fabric heaviness is a great balance. I’ve got an MSR hubba hubba which is a great tent for backpacking. From a canoe tripping standpoint it’s a little light though from a longevity standpoint. The Ikos is very roomy from a how many persons it’s rated for tent. Not a super fan of the cross pole leather cup attachment points. Challenging to get attached without 3 to 4 hands. Cup just doesn’t want to slip on. Separate note but I’ll review the footprints is I don’t want a Bigfoot footprint. I want a footprint that just goes under the main tent body. I’m going to have to pay a sewing shop to cut both of my footprints down because Sea to Summit isn’t offering the just under the tent body footprints for the Ikos tents. I do t think they need the roof zipper in the rainfly either but I’ll seal it closed and it didn’t leak for me! Ryan
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this tent on a gravel bike trip in Wyoming and Montana. I didn’t have to pack it on my bike-it was carried on a van. This tent is easy to set up. I loved that it has 2 doors and how spacious it is. It has lots of pockets for storage. Im happy with my purchase of this tent!
I recently tried out this tent on a 4-day camping trip and was impressed with the material and build quality. The interior is spacious and accommodates two people comfortably with lots of room to store stuff in the vestibules. It is also light enough to take on backpacking trips. I had heavy rain on the last night for about 4-6 hours and unfortunately, the ridgeline design causes water to pool on the fly directly above the zipper vent. This allowed for water to drip down onto the mesh that then dripped into the tent. It wasn't a ton of water, and overall I was really impressed with the waterproofing of the tent, but this is still disappointing given that it's a design problem. Overall the tent is really smartly designed, with great ventilation, and quality materials. However, it doesn't perform the best in heavy rain. I'll be keeping the tent as this isn't a dealbreaker for me.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really liked the little details and product quality! It does weight a bit more for Backpacking but it works perfectly if it gets shared in tandem ! Main purpose i got SeatoSummit is for Canoe Camping trip ! And worth the price ! Only con - foot prints to be bought separately
I lived in this tent for a week-long rafting trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon in June. I absolutely loved it—until it rained. -Durable fabric? Check -Pleasant colors? Check -Comfortable square footage? Check -Well thought-out pockets? Check -Generously sized stuff sack for repacking the tent into? Check -Corresponding footprint that gives you a little “patio space”? Yes—and it’s so awesome for keeping things clean and dry in the vestibule! -Acts as a sufficient shelter during a storm? Unfortunately, not! The kickstands that hold open the vents wicked rain drops right into the tent! A tent pole broke during a night of 20-30mph gusts. I would love to rate this tent higher (I genuinely miss it!) but the most basic purpose of a tent—shelter—isn’t quite met with the current rainfly design.
I took this out on a 4 day camping trip and the setup was easy and I was impressed with the build quality. We had heavy rain (no wind) one night and unfortunately rain did leak through the vent at the top, even when fully zipped. It was a slow drip which didn't bother us however, water was pooling on the top of the ridgeline. Disappointed with this as I really love everything else about the tent.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this tent after our lovely loyal LLBEAN 3 person needed to retire. It’s a great design, lots of headroom, handy inner pockets and loops, helpful colour coding. For some reason there was a leak happening during our first 2 outings. I reached out and true to their work a replacement fly was sent. I still wonder why the first one leaked, one of life’s mysteries I guess. Many thanks Sea to Summit for your support
