Osprey Hydraulics Reservoir - 2 Liters
Ideal for long days on the trail, the 2-liter Osprey Hydraulics reservoir has been updated from the previous version to make filling, carrying and operating easier than ever.
- Updates from previous version include ergonomic handle, bite valve and opening design
- Comfortable handle allows for true one-handed filling; it's now also easier to carry and pour from the reservoir
- Compact bite valve preserves excellent water flow in a smaller package; on/off lever is thumb-operable and easy to regulate with one hand
- Compact Slide-Seal opening allows for one-handed filling, removes bulkiness, slides into packs easily and seals securely; compatible with HydraClip attachments in Osprey packs
- All parts in this system—including the magnet, sternum slider and sternum buckle—have been updated to ensure a more secure hose capture
- Center baffle flattens the profile and carries the stiffness of the backer plate to the front panel, which reduces bending and buckling when loading reservoir into your pack

Hydration bladder checks all the boxes! Wonderful.
This hydration bladder is outstanding! I'm replacing an old bladder and this one is as different as night and day. The easy open access for filling and cleaning is my favorite feature. I love the shutoff value with a bite value. I don't know how many times my old bite valve leaked as I climbed and the air pressure change meant the water would either leak onto other gear in the car or down my front when wearing it. The bag itself appears very sturdy and wear resistant. The backing plate makes it more comfortable when inserted into the hydration pouch of my backpack. It fits my Osprey pack nicely as you would hope.
Great water reservoir....with one drawback
I've always been a bit concerned about easy of cleaning with backpack reservoirs, so I was thrilled with the wide opening that the Osprey Hydraulics Reservoir has (see photo). It's very easy to fill, and just as easy to clean which makes me feel much more comfortable using it. It also has a very well designed bite valve with a very useful flow regulating lever as well. My favorite part by far is the magnetic hose management system, a magnet is built into the hose near the valve, with another magnet that clips into your backpack strap, so you don't have to fiddle with any clips or elastic bands. The only downside is that the clip on the top isn't compatible with all backpacks, only with osprey. The reservoir still sits just fine in any sleeve, but being able to have it hanging is nice. If you have an Osprey backpack it's perfect, if you have a different one it's still really great.
Great upgrade! Love the handle and spine!
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. Great water reservoir! Love the handle for ease of filling. The more rugged spine helps it keep its shape in my pack. The on/off valve is easy to use and love the magnet link that attaches to your backpack chest strap. Great quality and nice upgrades from my older reservoir.
Pretty good
Thus is a good hydration pack but not my favorite. Pros: it’s easy fill since it has a grab handle on front, leak proof, magnetic clasp on the mouthpiece so it can hook to your backpack, fits in my backpack. Cons: getting it to dry is difficult because the bag doesn’t really stay open and I can’t hang it from anywhere (I guess you could from the corner where there’s a little clear plastic loop but then hangs lopsided) like I can with my old hydration pack
No more center bump!
Thoughtful design through out. First, filling up 2 liters was an easy removing the top clamp and holding by the blue exoskeletal handle. Inside is a center wall connecter that prevents the bag from bowing.
Great water reservoir for a full day.
The reservoir has held up well on some mid-distance hikes as well as a long hot day of kayaking. There were no leaks and the 2 L size was plenty for a full day’s activity. The magnetic clip held the hose in a convenient position. I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review.
Game changer!
Loving this water bladder- it’s a great size and I use it in my daypack and also in my larger 55L pack. Super effective and easy to use. This is the first water reservoir I’ve purchased and used and I can’t imagine going without it now. Basically went with Osprey thinking it’d be compatible and work well with my Osprey daylite pack (which it does) and as mentioned also works well with my REI pack.
Great bladder for treks; no leaks!
Bought this to fit an Osprey 26 liter backpack, and it fit perfectly. The bladder itself worked great, it was easy to put together, and I experienced absolutely zero leaks on my 7-day Kilimanjaro trek. I found it easy to clean after watching a very informative youtube video. The bite valve comes apart into 3 parts, allowing for easy cleaning and for the hose to be clear from the mouthpiece and bladder for easy drying. I allow the bladder part to hang dry upside down for at least 48 hours to ensure it is bone dry before storing. Extra tip - if you will be in freezing temps with the bladder and don't want your water in the hose to freeze (or buy an insulating cover for it) while hiking, you can blow the water back into the bladder where it'll be more insulated in the backpack and less prone to freeze, keeping the hose empty and not frozen solid.
Water tastes of plastic
Have used this for 5 extensive backpacking trips and while I love the design, especially the plastic back which makes sliding this into a pack much easier, it ruins the taste of water. Every time I drink out of it, there is a very noticeable plastic taste. Makes you wonder how much microplastics you're taking in with every gulp
Should have upgraded sooner!
I have owed other hydration bladders in the past and my last one was years old. I should have upgraded a long time ago because the Osprey Reservoir is a game changer. The wide opening top makes adding water and ice a breeze. In addition, the wide open top and quick disconnect on the tube makes cleaning simple and effective. Would highly recommend.
