Solid Duffel bag
Awesome bag. Couldn't be happier. The images make it look like a similar material to the Patagonia black whole backs. It's not. it's lightweight than that and not as plastic feeling. It's coated with something to probably make it water resistant but it maintains high level of flexibility. love the internal compression straps and little dump sack for dirty clothes. I found the shoulder backpack straps to be more than comfortable for getting around from place to place with. Really just an awesome lightweight bag. I was shocked how lite it is compared to the Patagonia equivalent.
Exceed my expectations. Carry it on or check it at the airport. Backpack straps are comfy and easy to remove. I love that there are no pockets in the bag (besides the shoe compartment) and that it is one open vessel.
Perfect Travel Bag - Large compartment, comfy backpack or duffle, easy to compact
Perfect travel bag
I needed a new travel bag to replace an old Mountain Hardwear duffel. Since they don't make that one anymore, I searched about but this one seemed to check all the boxes. It's large enough for two weeks on an international trip, or can be sized down for a one-week adventure closer to home. It's got the awesome backpack straps and a convertible over-the-shoulder strap.
Great bag, poor strap design
The bag itself seems heavy duty and the blue color was great. Unfortunately, the strap and carry system is very poorly designed. The sling strap cannot be fully removed and lacks any padding or grip. The backpack straps are poorly positioned, so when wearing a full bag the clip and top of the bag dig into your shoulders. The shoulder straps also lack sufficient padding.
Excellent quality and nice design
With many similar options on the market this is a solid choice. The lightweight and style standout compared to other competitors. They bag is surprisingly package itself, easy to store and transport. Will make a solid gear duffle or luggage for the active traveler. Would not wear shoulder straps for extended periods of time but that goes without saying.
Just falls short of perfect
For the most part, it's a great bag. Two big fails though, IMO... pockets... only 1, really? I kind of knew that going in though. The other, the shoulder strap is a huge fail.. so uncomfortable, just a narrow strap with no padding. Maybe I should use one of the backpack straps as a shoulder strap? Will give it a try when I return.
Bring back the MH designers!
This was a replacement of the “lifetime warranty” on an earlier version of the bag before columbia sportswear took over. Way Way overthought with features that are useless. Much weaker material, no center handles outside the bag. NOT impressed. Mountain hardware used to make a great product … now… ehh.
Nice size and good quality
I bought this bag on used for the first time this past weekend. It held up well, solid construction and materials. For a real compact footprint when folded up (not sure I'll ever be able to re-fold it back into it's pouch), it's a pretty cool bag.
Good enough to be considered among your gear.
strap and material are goods. The slightly too floppy build material makes the opening and unit not self standing when empty. Slightly annoying compare to the standard Patagonia duffel
Drag it, its what bags do.
awesome duffle backpack, have taken it on several trips love the strap comfort on the backpack straps. does not show the travel grime from airport and dragging on the ground. love it.
