Superb construction and quality. The huge label pocket (and red colorway) are fantastic features when your bag is lost in a sea of bag duffels. 100L is typically the max allowable haul size for guided, yak, or Sherpa supported mountain trips, and a good general provision hauler for international trips while keeping under airline weight limits. Trekking poles and other gear can be safely cinched in the base padding . Upright full open design is incredibly functional once in the tent or hotel room. Prefer it to our suitcases. We left ours in the tailgate of a pickup in Panama during a monsoon for hours and everything was dry inside. We bot a second 100L and then a 140L.

I love the features of this bag: the way it opens all the way up without a lid; the perfect extra pouches; the divider for the interior. However… when i got my delivery (2 days early), there was a HOLE in the bottom of the “durable, waterproof” bag.

Best duffel bag you can get your hands on! PERIOD! Durable tough fabrics, handles and loops everywhere, large pulls, multiple compression belts, two tier interior dividing flaps, and backpack straps. All of that in quite a lightweight package makes this a winner.

This was a second to complement my initial MH 100L duffel for fire deployments. Very roomy and ties down nice to pack a bunch of stuff. I use one for 14 days worth of clothes and the second for my tent and sleeping gear. These duffels are durable and really take a beating without looking tattered.

I've used North Face Base Camps for years, and they've gone with me to Nepal, Africa, and India. I took the Expedition Duffel 100L on an expedition in the Alps and absolutely fell in love with it. It's now my favorite travel duffel. The biggest difference is the compression system. With a regular duffel, you get 100 liters whether your gear fills it or not. With this one you can cinch the bag down, which stabilizes the load inside so it doesn't shift around. The shoulder straps come off easily when you don't need them. I was a little concerned about the number of straps on the outside, but that turned out not to be a problem. There are plenty of handles and tie-down points, and when we had to strap the bag to the roof of a car, everything we needed was already there. It also has a small window where you can slip in a tag or an ID card, so you don't have to write on the outside of your bag with a marker. The bag opens wide and stays open like a wide-mouth bag, which is much easier than other duffels where the zipper doesn't hold. When it's cinched down, the waterproofing held up just as well. The material is great and durable, and I like the oversized zipper pulls, which are possibly overdone but easy to grab. My one wish is a place to stash the shoulder straps on the outside. Right now you have to take them off, open the bag, put them inside, and close it back up. When you need them again, you have to dig them out. A zip pocket on the outside would fix that. It's a well-built, possibly overbuilt bag, and I love it so much I bought a second one.
