Love it - after some tinkering to get it to fit!
I just got this installed and adjusted on my mid-size Osprey Fairview/Farpoint travel pack. My test fit feels great! My one minor frustration is that due to the mismatched between the buckle styles, it's necessary to remove the existing straps - but on many packs these are sewn directly to the pack! I was able to unthread the other end of the strap from the length adjustment point and attache the extender strap there. I think it will work great, but between the new straps and the old straps, I now have about 6 feet of excess webbing to tie up somehow! If there were any way to remove the REI straps from the buckle, I could just the pack's original strap. If this ends up being as comfortable on the trail as it seems in my home, I may try cutting away the REI webbing to install this more permanently.
A cummerbund for your back
A great way to customize your pack. Cummerbund styling. Much more comfortable than a thin strap and buckle.
Whoever designed this deserves an award & a bonus
This is freaking genius. A comfortable hip belt extender that works with any hip belt that has 1.5" webbing, with no change in functionality. For this low price, those of us who are more bodacious than the stereotypical backpacker can use ANY pack comfortably. I bought one for my Osprey Exos 58. I liked it so much that, for this price, I bought another one for my daypack and a third one for my expedition/ cold weather pack. I'm a bit picky, and I can find no issues with this. It actually exceeded my expectations, which virtually never happens.
Doesn’t fit either of my backpacks
The buckles on this extender neither fit my Osprey(s) nor my Fjallraven Keb, but a tailor and some new side-release buckles helped.
Great addition!!
After gaining a fair amount of weight, I found myself unable to buckle my hip belt. This extender is amazing and the cummerbund pad on the front is so comfortable.
Doesn't work for Northface bags
I was excited to try this as hubby and I have both gained some since we last used our packs. Unfortunately, this didn't quite hit the mark. The 1.5 inch was spot on, but the thickness and length of the connecting clips a bit small to work with our Northface Terra bags. I knew it was an off chance it would work since this was made to work with REI bags though, the dimensions of the clips would have helped determine if these would work.
