This little light is AMAZING. It’s my EDC go to and has come in handy so many times. It’s replaced the typical smart phone flashlight usage and for good reason. At its lowest setting it’s perfect for small tasks like looking for lost objects in the car or at home. I’ve only charged my PD25r once in roughly two three since I first got it and it’s still showing a 100-85% battery charge according to the indicator light. Outdoors the Turbo setting is bright enough to help me locate my dog ant night across our 1 acre yard. This light is perfect, not too big and not too small. The candela power is quite high for such a small light and that focused power really helps in illuminating objects at distance. My only caveat is the lack of a fully flat base . Because the power button is not fully recessed behind the aluminum body flanges you can’t sent the light down on its base. In some cases that sucks but the long battery life, amazing candela and recharging capability outweigh that by a long shot.

Good, But Not Perfect

I purchased this to replace a lost Surefire light. I like the compact size and handling, and especially the ability to recharge with my USB-C phone charger. However, I've found two annoyances. First, the light has a mind of its own and frequently turns on in my pocket, even when "locked off." Second, the battery charging port cover fits into the port so snugly that it is often difficult to open up again. The cover needs a longer grip tab.

Fenix Compact Flashlight - Great everyday useful!

Great alternative flashlight to other higher priced items like Surefire, Streamlight. Fenix makes what I consider a more economical alternative to the other brands noted, which I also have, but these serve a great everyday purpose and i have multiple of them in bedroom, living room and family room... always have a light that works great and this one gives you the choice of using rechargeable battery or CR123 type batteries. Recommend highly but avoid those Fenix lights with too high a lumen availability as the bezels get hot, very hot... this one is sufficient and for the size is very useful for the purpose i've chosen... day to day usage.

Perfect, powerful, “pen” light.

Perfect, small light. This fits easily in a pocket of my sailing gear. I use it for night sailing to flash the sails and read the tell tales to aid in trimming and steering. Because of its small size and outsize brightness, it is easy to use and to keep out of the driver’s eyes (saving their night vision). It also is easy for me to have on hand. I also like that it’s rechargeable, meaning I don’t have to worry about carrying extra batteries. I just completed an ocean race in which we were out for 5 nights and the light had more than enough battery life for that. I loved my previous Fenix but its non-rechargeable batteries corroded making it unusable (in spite of efforts to clean it out). This one is smaller and just as powerful.

Good Backpacking Flashlight

The Fenix PD25R is a lightweight flashlight suitable for backpacking or general EDC use. It ships with a 16340 Li-ion cell, a USB-C charging cable, a lanyard, and a nylon holster. The light pattern has about a 30 degree beam width with a central hot spot. The light color is tropical yellow, ~5000 K, or so it appears. If you like winter white light, 6500 K, this is not it. It is very bright. There are 5 dimming levels. The middle level, medium, is good for walking a trail and the 30 degree beam width lets you see to the left and right. When clicked up to turbo level, I could see under pine trees 100 feet away. When clicked down to eco level, you need dark adapted eyes to use it. The red button controls the levels, but it is so recessed I could not find it on my first time outside with the flashlight. The body clip can be adjusted so that holding the flashlight in your right hand with your fingertips resting on the body clip, your thumb will be on the red level button. I recommend that so you can find that button. Another way is to turn the light off-on. The battery charge LED inside the red button will flash on for a few seconds so you can find it. I think that light should have been left on so the button was illuminated. Construction of the barrel is solid aluminum. The on/off switch is on the rear, and that is not recessed enough so I fear it could be hit and turn the light on if packed tightly. You could save the cardboard disk the light ships with to prevent that.

Very nive everyday light.

Solid. It was a nice improvement to recharge the light without removing the battery itself to plug directly to it. More than enough light for everyday use. Here in Alaska even more useful in winter. Bright enough that even angled down the light can be seen. Water resistance essential and tested by accident. Several people have asked about it. Gave one to my niece as she heads back to college. Impressed.

High quality torch to add to your EDC

I needed a flashlight to add to my EDC kit while work from my west coast office. After reviewing several different mini flashlights of similar size and feature set. This came with a rechargeable battery and a USB-c charging port. This is a sturdy and reliable flashlight and it is well built. I would buy it again although it is more pricey than some of the other flashlight offerings at REI.
