Simple Bowl gets the job done
The highlights of this bowl are the price and the ease of cleaning. Super affordable and the inside is very slick which makes for super simple wipe down on the go. It sheds crusty food bits nicely, stacks for fairly easy storage. It’s not as compact for backpack camping but can be finagled to work in a pinch or on a budget. These things are light and nice. For now it has found a home in my camp kitchen tote for car camping and will get a fair bit of use. Car camping is a great use for these bowls and they will make decent pack packing fare for those on a budget.
I wish it packed down smaller.
So initial impressions: it’ll hold a good amount of food, it’s somewhat lightweight. I don’t think you’d want to haul it on a long backpacking trip. Maybe like a 1 or 2 night trip. It’s pretty nonstick, so it’ll clean fairly easily. One downside, it gets really hot once you put hot food in it. For cleaning, If camping near a stream it’ll wash right out. I think it would come pretty clean with just water from a bottle if you’re not near running water. Would work great for car camping, not as well for backpacking since it doesn’t pack down smaller. I do like the durability and the fact that it’s lightweight.
Fine option for eating at camp
[Full disclosure: I was given one of these bowls to review, but these are my unbiased opinions.] It's hard to find much wrong with this as a bowl -- it fulfills the basic function. Some things to note if you're unsure whether this is the thing for you. It's a shallow bowl, which I think gives it versatility. You can eat a bowl of cereal out of it, or use it as a plate, and it'll do fine. But because it's splitting the difference you may find it too shallow for, say, soup, but too deep to be used as a cutting surface. I tried both hot and cold foods in it and it worked fine. It's on the heavier side, which gives it durability but may make it seem too heavy for backpacking. For my uses - car camping, hiking, canoe camping - it'll do just fine.
Great for car Camping!
This bowl is lightweight but also feels really durable. I’ve put anything from cereal to soup in it, and it holds up well. Doesn’t feel too hot to the touch with warm foods. It wouldn’t be my first pick for backpacking as it would take up a lot of needed room, but for car camping if RV it’s great
Lightweight, good size
This shallow bowl is lightweight and a good size for holding a good amount of food while still being comfortable to hold in the hands. I tried it out with soup and the bowl didn't get too hot to hold, which was nice, but I would've liked slightly taller sides. It was a good popcorn holder too -- again, a good size. I like that it's dishwasher safe, but it cleaned up really easily and I didn't need to use the dishwasher. I can already see some scratches from shipping, and my wooden spoon left a (light) mark, so I assume that this will look worn and used quite quickly. Of course, that's because I will be using it a lot too.
Pretty disappointed in the sticker/label
Sticker is impossible to remove, even after putting through the dishwasher and soaking in water. The sticker takes up the whole bottom of the bowl, and I’m afraid to take goo-gone to the plastic I’m going to eat off of. The size of the bowl is very odd as well. Really wouldn’t hold anything that a bowl would need to hold (soup or cereal), but would work okay as a a hybrid. Great price, very durable, and love that it’s dishwasher and microwave safe.
Simple, Solid Bowl
I really like the navy blue color of this bowl, but at the end of the day it's a pretty basic - but durable - bowl. Depending on what I am doing, I do have a few bowls I'll choose from so I thought I'd compare the UCO ECO Camp Bowl to what I already have. This UCO bowl is the heavier than my collection weighing in at 3.32oz versus my largest Snap Fold Bowl (1.410z) and my Sea to Summit Delta Bowl (3.21oz without its lid). If I'm doing a difficult backpacking trip, I would probably opt for my Snapfold Bowl or my Sea to Summit bowl over the UCO Camp Bowl. I really like the lid option on my Sea to Summit bowl even though it does make make it heavier because it helps thoroughly rehydrate foods. I wouldn't hesitate to use this UCO bowl for car camping or to supply a friend, but I probably wouldn't pick it for backpacking over my other tools.
Great bowl for day hikes, short trips or pets
I typically carry a collapsible mug (or two, one for coffee and one for oatmeal) for breakfast on hiking and backpacking trips and a collapsible bowl when my dog goes with me to keep him hydrated. I originally took this out as a possible alternative to the collapsible mug but, for me, it seemed a little bulky compared to my mug / mugs (worth noting that I typically just collapse one or both mugs into my cookpot). I also tried it with a dehydrated meal was surprised to find that the entire meal fit into the bowl easily, so I didn't have to eat it out of the bag. It feels well made and sturdy and is VERY easy to clean but bigger than what I was used to. Where it really shined though was as a water bowl for my dog. The collapsible bowl that I've used in the past tends to bend and "flop" as he's drinking but this worked VERY well. I'm kindof on the fence on whether I'd use it as my breakfast bowl or for dinner if I'm eating a dehydrated meal but it'll definitely go on any trips that my dog goes with me to make sure he stays hydrated.
Good lightweight camp bowl
Size was good, it was big enough to hold pretty much anything I put in it, but I do lean towards smaller portion sizes. It was good with breakfast cereals, freeze dried meals, and snacks. It held up well with hot meals and didn't deform or get too hot. It was easy to wash. It's lightweight and was good for day hikes, but don't think I'd bring it on longer hikes as there are lighter bowls out there. The construction was good and sturdy. It's made from recycled materials which is always a plus in my book. Overall it was a good bowl that I plan to continue using.
Sturdy bowl, great for more than camp!
This bowl is nicely deep and wide, so it can hold a fair amount. It is actually dishwasher safe (I’ve tested it) unlike some other camp bowls I’ve had. It is a bit heavy, so not a great choice for ultralight folks. It’s heavier than my MSR stainless steel basemcamp bowls, but it remains comfortably hold-able even if holding hot foods.
