Love the new skin cutter!
Skins are great as always, my 3rd pair from Black Diamond. The included skin cutter widget was easy to use and I had my skins cut in about 15 minutes. The glue mix on these skins seems to make them easier to unstick from themselves, but they are still adhering to the skis well. No issues on a few days of touring including one very big day. My one ever present gripe with BD skins is how easy it is to accidentally kick off and break the nose clip wires if you stumble a bit in the skin track. Hasn't happened with these ones yet, but I have replaced both nose clips on my first skins and broke the wires of my 2nd skin, but was able to get them to go back together with pliers. Something to be careful with.
Worked well for a bit
I bought the older version of this about little over 2 years ago and really liked them, worked really well. I have been out for only a handful of tours. I dry them and store them on the skin savers in my basement where the temp doesn’t change much. I never leave them on my skies. This year I pulled the skin savers off and big chunks came off. So I’m disappointed that I’ve only used them maybe 7 or 8 times and this happened.
Looks great, double check size
Bought this as a gift, shipment came right on track, was buying for a ski width at waist of 104mm so I thought this would be good, should’ve paid more attention. On the box it says the skin shouldn’t me more than 10mm thinner than the MAX width (~130mm at the tip of the ski I was buying this for), exchanging for the 135mm but I think it will be great!
Good skins
Skins have worked great. Only used them for 5 tours but they seem to hold up well in all kinds of conditions. They are durable and it looks like they will last a long time. Trimming tool was very easy to use and it’s nice to have the skin savers included
New cutter is difficult
The new cutter that the skins come with is a bit hard to use. Trying to get it started is difficult when there isn’t a lot of material getting cut off but once it’s started it works great. Haven’t had a chance to use the skins yet but they look nice.
Good deal!
So far I love these skins. They’re lightweight, the glue is the traditional bomber BD glue, and they glide great. I would have given them 5 stars but I’ve experienced a tiny bit of slipping while skinning firm surfaces. Great product for the value
Great glide, solid traction.
These skins glide really well for the superior amount of traction they have. They pack down pretty small for a non skimo skin and feel fairly light weight. Glue is strong but not overly difficult.
Glidelite mix fixed length sts
These are light and reliable skins that are easy to install and use, have great grip and are well glued (hard to remove without taking your skis off but that’s normal when they are new).
Skins are great - clips need work
These get me up the mountain with ease, unfortunately, the tail clip popped out of one of my skins on first use and I had to order new ones. Hope this isn’t a reoccurring issue.
I've always used the nylon
I've always used the nylon skins but these are a little lighter and pack down more. Slightly less grip then the full nylon but more glide.
