There is NO other fabric that feels like this

I have been wearing these shirts for years, 5 days a week for work, outside in the hot Utah summer. There is NO other fabric that feels like this, breathes like a champion, doesn't wrinkle, and is stretchy. Columbia makes a lot of good shirts, but this "checked" fabric is truly a game changer in the summer.

Omni-Shade shirt? With no PFG logos?! Yes, please!

I picked one of these up at a 3rd party retailer after having looked for months and months, particularly to replace one that I had worn for years. I got so much use and utility out of the old one that it was a no-brainer to replace it. As I had hoped, same quality and fairly accurate fit/sizing. Whether it has longevity is yet to be seen. I was super excited particularly because it did NOT have PFG printed all over it! (Seriously, why is it so hard to find these shirts in stores without having the PFG logos on them? Not everyone is into fishing...)

My Go To Shirts

I love the versatility of the Silver Ridge line. The long sleeve with the strap to switch to short sleeve. I’ve wanted a casual white shirt for sometime and I knew about the updates to snaps on the sleeve and the top buttons. Nice touch. Then I was even more pleased by the material, softer than I’m accustomed on prior Silver Ridge purchases. These are not cheap but at least it’s a shirt that feels like it’s worth the money especially since they respond well to stains. I don’t know if it’s the UV treatment or what but I manage to stain most shirts, but my Silver Ridge shirts clean right up.

Great Birding Shirt

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have four other Silver Ridge™ Utility Lite Long Sleeve Shirts, and wear them while out birding in the field. They're great in hot weather because they're very lightweight, so the long sleeves (which keep the insects off) don't feel hot. The sleeves can be easily rolled up, with side attachments to keep them up — and this new shirt has snaps on the attachments, which are much easier to use (thank you, Columbia!). And they look good under a sweater when the weather cools, making it a terrific layer. And the shirt look nice, too. Along with the field colors of stone, I have a maroon one (sadly, not being made at this time) which I can wear when I want to look a little nicer (on the plane, or at dinner). That's the reason I got this black one.

Test Drive

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As the first test of my new shirt, I attended an outdoor concert in direct sun, at 90 degrees. (Not the same as going hiking, but...) The shirt performed well: No sunburn (Omni-Shade works!), no trapping of perspiration or "clammy" feeling (Omni-Wick works!). Lightweight, comfortable fabric that breathes well. I particularly like the styling, which doesn't scream "HIKING SHIRT". Fit is comfortable, not too baggy or too slim. I'm not yet "sold" on the use of snaps rather than buttons, but it's not a deal-breaker.

Highly Recommended for Hiking and Travel

Super happy with these shirts. I need the SPF protection, but they are well-made, super lightweight, and (dare I say) stylish - at least for hiking, which is what I use them for most. Fantastic travel shirts - pack well and don't wrinkle. I could wear for hiking during the day, and/or out to a decent restaurant at night, during my recent European travels. Liked the first couple I bought so much, I went back and bought two more styles.

Men’s Silver Ridge

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shirt is a good fit. A little dressy but not too stuffy. Wrinkles from new shirt packaging were difficult to get out. After several washings it was fine. Cool texture is great in warm temperatures. I’m thinking of adding some of the other colors offered. I like the non-wrinkle material for travel. I think I would recommend the shirt to anyone looking for something in this style.

New polyester version smells bad/less durable

Bought this shirt because I was a fan of the original lightweight nylon Silver Ridge shirts, which I could wear for days without them starting to smell. On top of the new polyester version breaking down/tearing easier, I found that new version also worsens sweat odor, due to the stretch fabric trapping sweat/bacteria. Please bring back the original nylon version, please!!
