Beware of colors

I just bought both of the multi colored versions of these and I feel like the brightness of the tones is heavily edited in the product photos. I have some MH shells in purple and teal and the colors really POP in real life as much as they do in the product photos. I don't feel similarly about these duffels. Every color except the blue has a darker tone to it than the photos. Also the rose and teal/green bag has purple ends on it, and you cant really tell in any of the photos. Maybe my thoughts in the colors once I see the bag in the sunshine. Otherwise the bags have nice construction. The upper end with the zipper pocket and shoulder straps has more structure than the lower end which is the side where the main compartment opens from. Might be nice to have the opening end to be a bit less floppy but that's not the end of the world. Still, it's a solid bag.

4 Stars Cargo and Pockets, Straps Not Great

Good mid sized duffel, good number of small pockets for small items, the shoulder straps are a little janky, where they attach with a small webbing loop it always seems to twist around itself nine times. I want to give it four stars but this is one of those little details that is so obvious that missing it keeps you at a C level. Bring your B game, Mountain Hardwear!! There's a split purpose here, it's like a duffel bag that you might wear as a backpack once in a while, but 99% of the time you just throw one over your shoulder so it's a bit off balance and the tricky straps just get in the way and catch doorknobs and stuff. I'm modifying mine to have one strap that acts as a shoulder strap, then it's a winner!

Well thought-out, well-made

Full disclosure I just picked this up for a trip I'm about to go on, and I've only used it for a handful of weekend trips. It seems dang near indestructible. My 45L backpack fits in (it's a bit of a wrestle, but it goes. Also very easy to throw in my 25L daypack filled up and whatever other travel essentials I'll need for a trip (everyone brings their trekking pole, hiking shoes, and kit on every trip, right??). Love that it turns inside out and fits into it's on pocket. It makes storing it in my closet in a 1-bedroom apartment with the rest of my gear much, much easier. I like the easy-to-find pull tabs, but I do wish it was a smidge easier to put a lock on them in those cases where you'll store part of your luggage during a backpacking trip. There's not much to snag on the outside once you remove the straps. There's no big loops or metal bits to get lopped off in checked luggage. Some people have complained that there's no cross-body strap, but I've found, you can achieve basically the same thing using just one of the straps diagonally across the bag.

Stylish, Robust, and very Practical

The bag looks great and is very practical. Especially, with the ability to fold into itself. The straps are robust and comfortable and the pockets are easy to access and open. I did not like how wide the bag is when you fill it with clothes. When packed with items the bag has a pregnant look that I don't get when packing my other duffels. But that's really the only negative. The bag is stylish, robust, and practical. I'll likely purchase additional bags for family members and maybe a few other sizes for myself.

Favorite Duffel!

This duffel beats the rest. I love how lightweight it is, which allows me to carry just a little more when I'm checking a bag. The storage case comes in hand more often than I thought. Sometimes on big trips, I'll stash the duffel in another bag so I have something to carry gifts back for friends and family. the straps are comfortable and it fits my small torso fine. I highly recommend!

Camping system foundation

Had to choose between these and the REI model and preferred the detachable straps here. We intend to put these through their paces more thoroughly but no complaints so far. They are sturdy and well-thought-through. The stow pocket takes a little muscle. We are using these as our outdoor adventures packing system but also hope to fly with them.

This duffle is such a solid purchase, great for both outdoor gear bag and just a personal bag that you can take to the airport. Super lightweight, but also crazy durable

Nice

Self storage pack is a bit tight but that keeps it nice compact when put away. Just requires a bit of effort to store it. Great materials.
