Very Good But Not As Versatile As It Could Be
Purchased this top tube bag (color: Coyote Brown) several months ago and have been using on my Canyon Grizil gravel bike, which it fits perfectly on. Overall I've been really satisfied with the simple design and durability after several months of weekly use, including rides in the rain on pavement and on dirt roads/trails. Pros: The overall design/appearance and material quality is very good. The top tube bag is on the taller and narrower side relative to most top tube bags, with a small amount of internal padding and I haven't had any issues with my legs ever getting close enough to rub. The bar-tacked style attachment points for the velcro straps make it easy to securely attach to the top tube and steerer tube of my gravel bike and it stays secure with no side-to-side swaying even on rougher dirt/gravel roads. The top tube bag easily zips/unzips with one hand and I can easily fit an iPhone 12 Mini, wallet, car keys, and Laura Bar/other small snacks with a small amount of space remaining. What Could Be Improved: An updated version with a direct mount option (thumb screws in addition to velcro straps) would be an improvement as would using a waterproof fabric. The fabric and zipper are highly water resistant but not waterproof. I've ridden for several hours in light rain and wind and my phone, etc. stayed 100% dry in those circumstances, but in more persistent moderate/heavy rain the fabric saturates quickly (see picture). These two improvements, even with a slight increase in the price, would make it more versatile as well as secure on a range of different bikes and more functional for a wider range of wet weather conditions, thus my reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
Slim and functional
Stores my phone and keys securely. Narrow design helps contents from flying around inside during bumps. The fine velcro-like straps used to secure it to the frame's top tube (my top tube diameter is 1 1/4") were sufficient. The amount of velcro-to-velcro coverage on all 3 straps was assuring enough to give me a sense that it's not going anywhere. I also dropped a load for the matching handlebar bag. Was glad I did. Though some photos made me question if the bag colors were the same, I can verify - that these 2 items are the same color (coyote brown).
Nice and narrow
I bought this to replace a Revelate Mag Tank bag. The Revelate bag is great and the mag lock closure is brilliant. The problem is that bag is a bit on the wide side and I tend to pedal knees in and found my knee rubbing against the mag closure when I had this bag on my gravel bike (not an issue on the MTB with it's longer top tube) The Swift bag is narrower and no wider than my top tube so problem solved. The zipper is very smooth and easy to use one handed. Storage room is fine - I can easily store enough snacks to last me on even the longest ride. It's simple and gets the job done. There are two things I would change: 1) A small cord exit port would be great. I use top tube bags for carrying battery packs to keep my phone and GPS charged on longer trips and having a cable port would be a nice addition. 2) A bolt-on option. Many gravel bikes now come with mounts for top tube bags and I prefer to bolt my bags on whenever possible for the same reason I like to use braze-ons instead of clamps for mounting water bottles. Thankfully, converting this bag to a bolt-on was pretty easy using a soldering iron to make the holes and a grommet kit to reinforce them.
Good stuff but limited to strap mount.
Well made bag but requires straps to attach to bikes. Many modern designs are strapless (screw-in achors). Salsa makes a good one, and their bikes come with the required mounts.
And this one is just right!
Perfect size for Iphone 13, couple bars, gels, car keys. Slim so no interference with knees. Straps are very secure on 2022 Trek Checkpoint. Looks good as well. Was worried about the awkward angle of my steering tube (not a right angle) but bag attached firmly and fit in there just fine. No issues with steering. Simple. Clean design. Great bag.
Kinda floppy
Not impressed, bag is not stable and falls to the side. Attachment points are skinny and the zipper is sticky. Have only used it for a month and am probably going to trade it for something else. Seems like fashion before function sadly with the price tag to follow.
