Bad front light
Front light doesn't work. Charged it until button kight turned blue, but when you unplug it and try to turn it on, the red low battery light just flashes. Never even got to use it once.
Need to correct the record
This is a great light set! Several reviews mention that after a while the front light stops working, it charges and shows the blue “charged” light but then won’t turn on with just the red “empty” light flashing. A quick look at the manufacturer’s website tells you this is because the light is in lock mode and the button needs to be pressed for 8-10 seconds to unlock it. This has happened to me several times and unlocking it fixes it each time. It happens because you have to press the button for 3-5 to turn it off, but if you hold a little longer it goes into lock mode.
Do not last very long
I bought these lights four months ago. Initially I was very happy with them—they were both very bright and the battery seemed to last long. The only issue at the moment was that the silicone straps used to attach them to the bike were on the short side. A few weeks ago I lost the back light while right—I never noticed it detached from the base. It might have been my fault, I cannot be certain about this. This week the front light stopped turning on, even though it is fully charged. I do not recommend this product.
Great rear light, ok front light.
The rear light is excellent, offering numerous modes that last a long time. I actually use my bike while working, so going for several hours a day without having to recharge daily is a big deal to me. The front light is just ok. Despite a full charge, it cannot last for more than an hour or two at any level beyond low. When it is on a higher level, it will default to low automatically. Low lasts for a quite a few hours. Basically, the back is better than the front.
Top Notch Customer Service & Support
Bought two sets, in one both lights worked perfectly, in the other, the rear light wouldn't light after charging. Contacting NiteRider support was easy & their response was immediate. Answered a few questions, sent a couple of product pics and the next thing you know a replacement was in my hands and on my bike! I couldn't be more pleased or impressed with the support they provided. AND, they have a great company story to tell, as well - check it out when you can. Now, if only they made navigation lights for kayaks and small skiffs ;^).
Great product, works as expected
Bought two pairs for our son’s bikes. We had an older version of these lights for our other kids bike and this rear light is much better. Head light does a great job at lighting up although we had trouble turning it on for the first time. Apparently you have to get it out of the locking program by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds before it actually turns on. My hubs initially thought it was nonfunctional and we were going to return for another one but we figured it out. Read light is very bright and almost blinding to look at even during daylight. It’s a great thing bc cars can see you from far way. The front light is the same as our old version from 4 years ago. One thing is they use two different charging cords to power up which is a little annoying, but they are both included. usb to micro usb and usb to usb C.
Liked but had a charging issue
I really liked the lights a lot but ended up returning them within the first month of use. My issue was that the charging port on the front light was giving me problems. I had to fiddle with the connection to get it to charge and it was getting worse. Once I had to physically hold the cord in place to work was when I decided to return it. I decided to go with another brand in replacing it.
Good value, finicky buttons
The lights are pretty bright compared to similar sized lights from other companies. It hasn't been as easy to press the buttons as other Niterider products. The power button on the back sometimes gets stuck on the charging port cover, but both front and back take a bit more effort and centering of pressure than what I'm used to with my other Niterider products. Since I live in California, it is a high likelihood of the lights getting stolen off my bike, so I wanted something that was just enough brightness to survive biking at nighr, but wouldn't be a financial hardship when stolen.
Almost perfect
This seemed to be a step up from a lower priced set I was considering. These lights are great for visibility and being visible. Two reasons to not earn 5 stars: charging ports are different for front & rear lights; if they used same USB style, it would be more convenient. Also, front light needs to be detached completely from the bike to easily charge - I imagine the rubber strap will wear easily. The rear light has a clip that stays on the bike, and light is easily removed for charging.
charging connector is different on the 2 lights
The USB charging connector is different for the front light than for the rear light.
