Avoid like the plague
Such a disappointment. I've had this camera for around 6 months and have had nothing but issues. The battery doesn't charge fully and the battery life is way shorter than advertised. It continuously gives me problems connecting to my phone and often requires a factory reset to get it to connect. GoPro's product support has been terrible, they really aren't sticking behind their product. This is my first and last GoPro.
Amazing video. Terrible battery
The camera itself performs just fine. The photos and video are crisp and clean. I’ve had no issues with the touch screen. My biggest gripe, and it’s big, is the battery life. My first time taking it out I decided to leave my phone tripod at home to save weight. I ended up having to balance my phone against a dead go pro to capture my camping trip. I believe I’ve seen a Go Pro extended battery. That should be the standard.
Disappointing quality continues
When the camera works, the video quality is really good. But basic stuff like charging, which should be a slam dunk, doesn't work or requires way more messing-with than is possible in the field. On my first outing with Hero 10, I pulled the camera out of my pack, it was hot to the touch and not responsive to the power or shutter buttons. Required a battery pull to get responsive again. Later when recharging attached to wall power, the red charging LED went out after about 10 minutes - uh oh - and camera again became hot to the touch, unresponsive, and after a battery pull I discovered that battery was discharged! Returned for a replacement. Replacement Hero 10 upon power up would complain about the SD card, beep, and reboot. Rinse, repeat. Was able to get latest firmware installed, and the reboot loop seemed to stop, but once again the charging issue was happening again. Fool me once, fool me twice. Bottom line is that GoPro has released a half-baked product, and is outsourcing the testing to the users. After 2 strikes, I opted to try for a Hero 9 from a different retailer. If you choose to buy this (and I highly recommend you don't!), keep it on a short leash. Really work it through its paces, because the return window is pretty short and you could end up with a dud.
Great (mostly) camera
Probably not worht it if you already have GP9. I've upgraded from the 7th, and it is huge improvement. The only issue I noticed so far is that it overheats while filming indoors. Other than that, great capable action cam.
terrible
This gopro is a waste. Constant glitches like automatically shutting off in the middle of a video. The company is terrible to deal with too, no help from customer service whatsoever. If you can't get the shot, what is the point? Don't make the same mistake I did by buying a gopro.
Defective
Keeps reporting SD card error, powers off. Does not connect to phone. Is stuck in 1 mode. Does not respond to swipes to open menu. Pretty much a brick.
