Overheats In Minutes - Too Big and Heavy
I've used GoPro models for years. Thought this would be a nice upgrade from my 7 Hero black. What a mistake. The 13 overheated and shutdown within a few minutes of being exposed to the Nevada sun. Secondly, it is way too big and heavy to mount on your head, hat or helmet as is often done for shooting action sports. The video quality is great and battery life much improved, but I decided to go with the Insta360 Go Ultra.
Disappointing Release
For many years I was a fan of GoPro and had almost every model. I still love my GoPro 11 but was planning to upgrade it to a better one. Unfortunately, after 2 years, GoPro still releases GoPro 11 with some very minor improvements that could be done by just updating the firmware. All accessories that they released for 13 already exist from third party companies except Macro Lens and Anamorphic Lens but I wander if someone needs them on action camera. Unfortunately, GoPro doesn't listen to its customers anymore. Sad to say but I'll be considering DJI action 5 Pro or insta360 Ace Pro 2 for my next action camera.
Disappointed
**Disappointing Experience with the GoPro 13** I recently purchased the GoPro 13, expecting the usual high performance and durability that GoPro is known for. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfying. Despite being advertised as waterproof, the camera took in water after just a few minutes at a depth of 2 meters. This is extremely disappointing, especially for a product designed for adventure and underwater use. Given the price and reputation, I expected better quality and reliability. I can no longer trust this camera for any water-related activities.
Be cautious of provided adhesive tape
I followed the instructions and attached my new GoPro13 to my new ski helmet. Had an amazing day skiing in Canaan WV. I was so exited to see my footage but on my last run the mount came off and I lost everything on the mountain. Search for another hour trying to use my Bluetooth connection of my phone. I even had the subscription to the cloud hoping the footage would upload. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the camera. I have plenty of extra accessories should I buy another. Don’t trust the adhesive tape, even if all the cool footage on the internet shows otherwise.
Fantastic action cam for MTB and water sports
Does what I expect from an action cam. Very good stabilization tested on the MTB, many options for settings to different sports. Build in audio quality is ok. Like the HB series lenses. Nice colors in videos and photos. Accurate GPS to show telemetry data in video, or even to combine them with telemetry data from Garmin. Generally, the Hero 13 is the successor of my Hero 7, which is still in use as an additional cam for ROV diving. I wouldn't have bought the Hero 13 or any other action cam without GPS function.
Enjoying the camera, don't expect access to the free Premium subscription
Bought the Hero 13 Black about a month ago. Love the camera and its functionality. This video and pictures are good. I am very disappointed with Go Pro as the Premium package with the iCloud storage and editing tools package has yet to be provided. The camera is advertised to have this package included with the camera purchase. Initially I received email support and after a few days of back and forth the company has now gone silent for another week. If you buy the camera don't plan on the storage and premium tools, which is advertised to be included in the camera purchase without spending more money on additional upgrade packages. Have been requesting a phone call trying to speak with a person and been unable to make contact with a person. . . . There is an active open help ticket on this subject.
The Down Fall
I picked this camera up a while back and was really excited to try it out. However, once I started using it, I was disappointed. The image quality looks washed out and overly digital, especially when compared to competitors like DJI. Their cameras are far ahead, especially with the larger sensor and significantly better low-light performance. GoPro seriously needs to address its low-light quality—DJI outperforms it by a wide margin. LOVED you guys but might be time to move on :(.
Camera DOA on arrival
After several GoPro series starting with the OG Hero I skipped the 12 but decided to grab the 13. Camera arrived and I went thru the normal setup process and charged it up. After an hour I find the camera doesn't recognize the battery. Do the whole reset song and dance. Battery shows up long enough to do the installation update then again says no battery , then 100% battery, 0% battery then goes into bootloop of death. Sad to say but this one it being returned.
WiFi 6 uploading @ alot faster than previous versions
Only negative is video clarity (can't read license lates past 1. 5 car lengths) _____ Battery life is the best of ALL GoPros to date. No need for 2nd battery anymore (must remove if camera uploading = will explode due to overheating) ***negative*** newer battery size/design ____ if overheating it will turn off (if uploading to cloud = videos percentage freezes but APP shows near FULL uploads @ 1/4 videos then 25% — but — APP shows 3+ completely uploaded)
