Good lid, poor case
This is my second Nathan QuickSqueeze View Insulated Flask. I got it to replace an earlier version of this same product because the lid leaked constantly. The lid on this one is great! No leaks. However, the handheld case that goes around the water bottle slips off very easily and cannot be tightened without sliding right off the water bottle. The water bottle fell out of the case a few times on my first run with it. I almost returned the product but kept it just for the lid to replace my old one that leaks. I was hoping this would be a great overall replacement for my last Nathan handheld, but it was poorly designed. Bummer.
More Distraction than Convenience
A wise woman once said, “If it doesn’t work, return it.” I just got back from a 3.5 mile test run on a desert trail and spent the final 3 miles mentally drafting a review saltier than my sweat-soaked running shirt. I was so excited about a convenient way to carry my phone and basic hydration and bought this to meet my short run needs, and was almost immediately disappointed once I got out there. I have a Nathan hydration backpack that works well enough and I thought I would be in good hands with this product as well. Nope. The good news is that my phone was safe and dry. I appreciate that. That is all the good news I have. Functionally, the bottle and harness don’t seem to be made for each other- one is constantly trying to ditch the other. If I tighten the straps, the bottom bottle pops out. If I loosen the straps, the bottle falls out. If I carefully adjust the straps, the bottle works it’s way out like a dog through a hole in the fence. On the trail I need my gear to be zero distraction, and having to fiddle and fidget with the harness every quarter mile was nothing but distraction. The nozzle earns negative points for functionality as well. I never had a proper drink on my run except when I stopped and just opened the thing to drink out of. Drinking from the nozzle requires 3 simultaneous actions- 1. Holding it open with my lips, 2. Squeezing with my teeth, 3. And for some reason also having to squeeze the bottle with my hand only to be punished with an inconsistent dribble. I felt like Mr Ed in trail shoes trying to stay hydrated. The shape of the bottle and angle of my hand in the harness made it very difficult to tilt up after half the water was gone as well. Difficult to explain- but even more embarrassing to have to perform while standing awkwardly on the side of the trail. I stopped to wrestle a drink out of this so many times I nearly gave up. At one point I was in so much distress, Siri offered to dial my therapist. If my phone wasn’t in it I might have just chucked it in the stream that runs alongside the Tempe shared-use Trail. I rely on REI to provide great products that help me Get Out There and be healthy. This product won’t make me quit running- but when I do quit running someday, I will point back to this product as the beginning of the end. Thanks for reading- I do feel better now. But I’m still returning this bottle asap.
Love it
I absolutely love my new running water bottle with a phone holder! It's become an essential part of my workouts. The design is sleek and the bottle is easy to carry, providing me with just the right amount of hydration during my runs. The phone holder is a game-changer – no more worrying about where to put my phone. It securely holds my device, allowing me to listen to music or track my progress effortlessly. The quality is top-notch, and the adjustable straps ensure a comfortable fit. Staying hydrated and connected has never been this convenient. Highly recommended for anyone who loves staying active!
so far, so good
Taken this on a few runs. Good size. A tad heavy when full. Adjustable strap fits snug, cap is easy to extend/close while moving. Holds my iPhone 13 Pro Max~ which is the main reason I bought it. Can fit my house key in the pocket, and a few bucks cash… but not much else. I have a fairly slim case, and it just fits… so if your phone case is on the bulky side, you might have to remove it for your phone to slide in.
I really wish it fit my hand!
I’m a 5’7” tall, 122 lbs female and wanted this to work so badly for my runs. I use an iPhone13 Pro Max which is a very large phone. The phone actually fits great but the straps that hold the water bottle didn’t work for my small hand. When I adjusted the one adjustable strap on the bottom of the harness to the tightest it would go, the bottle kept slipping out of the harness. Perhaps adding a notch to the plastic water bottle to keep the strap in place would help? Or switch the adjustable loop to a position at the middle/ back of the handle vs the bottom of the bottle would work. That said, this is a fine, high quality product that would likely work well for most people, it just didn’t work for me with skinny hands.
Good but not so good for me.
I want to like this so much but I find that it’s just too big for my hands to be comfortable. I love the shape, I love the phone sleeve, I love that the handle can be held easily in the left or the right hand. But I guess my hands are on the smaller side (or maybe they are average sized female hands…) and so I have to adjust my grip and work extra hard to squeeze water out. Not ideal.
Horrible, way too big
Horrible. The strap is way too big for my hands (which are average sized) and the bottle is very hard to squeeze. I'm back to using my old Nathan bottle whose holder is hanging by a thread. Seriously hope they go back to the old design which was great and a lot less complicated.
Wouldn't recommend
The bottle doesn't like to stay in the straps, and its very difficult to get the straps to stay snug. This bottle harness needs to be better designed, maybe less stretchy straps.
