I became homeless when the "pandemic" struck a couple of years ago, and used my hatchback as an RV. I'd been using the excellent Peak 1 single stove, but if I wanted to eat decently, I needed a real stove. Proven design, compact, perfect field kitchen for home-cooked meals without the "home".

Inflated price for the anniversary sale

I bought this stove on May 10 for $100. On May 14 they increased the price to $130 and have now discounted it to $97 for the May 16 anniversary sale. Scummy behavior and violates the FTC rules on deceptive pricing (16 CFR Part 233).

Excellent for most Car Camping or River Floats

Having grown up with a white-gas powered Coleman "suitcase" stove on family outings, I had some expectations about the Coleman Cascade Classic Camping Stove. The good: This stove lights up easily with its built-in piezoelectric igniter. The flame control has very fine adjustment with multiple turns from a light simmer to full flame (I have used some stoves where it is simmer to full blast in a quarter turn and very difficult to adjust the flame where you want it). The propane bottle connector is easy to attach and detach, and stows inside the stove for travel. The grate supports pots and pans very nicely with plenty of room for pans up to 10". The burners put out plenty of heat and are uniform in heat. I did not notice any hot spots using standard kitchen pans to saute vegetables and pan fry chicken. Thinner camping pans might have trouble with hot spots. Boiling 1-1/2 quarts of water in a kitchen sauce pan with an ambient temperature of 57 degrees F. Took 7 to 7-1/2 minutes to get a full rolling boil. The less good: The stove is nicely sized, but If you like to use 12" pans, there is not enough room for two. You will only be able to use one on one burner. The other burner will be limited to an 8" pan. Two 10" pans will fit OK. I found the construction of the stove to be very lightweight and even fragile when compared to my original Coleman white gas stove of the same size. The whole unit just seems flimsy (despite what seems to be a really nice grate). One of the wind screens was not attached to the lid and I had to bend the little retaining loop up, slip the wind screen under it and bend the loop back down. I could do all this with my bare hands, it was so flimsy. In short, this is a really nice stove; it is hot, adjusts well, is easy to use, and seems very reliable. But don't expect to treat it rough. You will probably want to keep its original box for storage and travel, or make a box for it to protect it. If you toss some other items on it in your car, or on a float trip, it is going to get dent or get bent.

Excellent Stove

This is a wonderfully compact stove. The included tube (for the not included gas cartridge) attaches easily by fingers alone. There were no leaks of gas in three days of stove use. I boiled water, fried grilled cheese sandwiches and heated up chili and soup. The two burners work independently and light quickly with the included sparker knob. It is easy to turn up to full boil or down for simmering. And I was able to set a pot in between on the generous grill area to stay warm. I used this stove on a home deck, at a trailhead after a hike and along the river at a park. At the latter two the wind was blowing but it was easy to place the back to the wind and the burners remained lit. Gas use was minimal and I still have over half of a cartridges contents left. I like it a lot and wish I had bought one sooner.

Good stove for car camping

This is a decent stove that is relatively affordable. Components feel durable aside from the plastic knobs. I feel the manufacturer was accurate with propane burn time of approx 50-60 minutes with both burners on high per tank. I appreciate that for a stove, it is relatively compact, but that does decrease the size of pans you can use, I had difficulty fitting 2 12” pans side by side, but if you have smaller skillets and pots this shouldn’t be an issue. Pretty lightweight. The wind guard worked well and the igniter functioned appropriately. I think this is a solid stove for light to moderate use, but if you plan on using it multiple times per day for weeks on end, I might look into something a little more solidly built/rugged.

So portable and easy to use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Coleman - CASCADE CLASSIC STOVE about a month ago because my family loves camping, and we absolutely love it! I love how much room it has and that it is so easy to use. I also love how durable and sturdy it is. It is easy to clean, compact and can fit 2 skillets so everything gets done together. The easy ignition switch is so easy to use as well. This stove is perfect for any camping trip! It's also a huge benefit that it is made by a trusted brand that has been around for a very long time!

Another solid performer from Coleman

The Cascade Classic Camp Stove is a solid performer from Coleman. It uses fuel very efficiently: we cooked at least two meals a day on this stove for seven days, using only one canister of fuel. It is easy to adjust the burner from low to "blow torch", enabling you to simmer your food or quickly boil up a pot of water. It is easy to set up, clean, and take apart. The only problem that we had with this stove is that the piezo starters would not light the burners. We had to use a lighter, but this was only a minor inconvenience. I would recommend this stove to others.

This Grill is Garbage

I cannot recommend this dud of a grill. The first one I purchased has a burner that would not ignite right out of the box. After one camping trip, the other igniter ended up failing as well. REI gladly let me exchange it for another. The second grill I received showed up with both igniters non-functioning and one of the burners bent at an angle. This is clearly a poorly built entry level grill. I’m going to exchange it for the Eureka Ignite Plus and hope for a better outcome.

Perfect for car camping!

Coleman hit it out of the park again. An updated version of the classic coleman stove, I got a hand me down one in high school when car camping with girl scouts and this is a great updated version. I have found that the previous models wind guards don't stay fully open or the clips are easy to lose, this clips are way better. Propane tank attachment sits nicely in the base of the stove. I really appreciate that the burners screw on, on my older model occasionally the discs would come off and rattle around. Only con: the pot rest/rack rattles if you store the stove sideways, like in the car.

Light, foldable, and easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I brought this grill to the camp site at coachella and it was amazing. The grill is well constructed but also lightweight. The back easily folds together to the size of a briefcase. Its super portable and takes 2 minutes to set up. I would recommend this grill to my friends and family.
