Great for car camping or in the backyard

These are a great pair of stainless steel tongs for car camping, or backyard grilling. (Definitely not a backpacking item due to size & weight.) The seem very well made and the locking tab works better than other similar tongs I've used in the past. The silicon grips are a nice touch and feel good in the hand. The bottle opener works fine, although that isn't a selling point for me. The tongs open quite wide and could probably grip a roasted chicken or other large items like a baked squash. That said, my wife has smaller hands and did find these tongs to feel a bit wide when first grabbing them in comparison to other tongs we have. Overall these are great cooking tongs and have found a place in my truck camping cooking gear box.

Good OXO Tongs, But Not the Best for Rough Camping

I took this to Moab for a 7 day off-road adventure April 24 through May 1. Three full days overlanding on the trail in Colorado and Utah in austere environments and used it with campfires and camp stoves. Good quality. I cut off the rope after the first day and replaced it with a silicone band (easier to wash and keep clean). The rope retains dirt and odor. A little short to use on a campfire with grill, but fine for using on a camp stove with a pan once we were back at camp. I didn't use the bottle opener, but it seems a little small.

Good quality, doesn’t disappoint

We often enjoy this product brand for it’s durability and quality. We own and use tongs often. These tongs look like and are good quality, built well, mostly comfortable grip, and grabbing items is accurate and clamps just right. They look good, weight is ok but sturdy; neutral design. Personally prefer a longer handle especially for grilling/smoking and would enjoy a hand grip area with more grooves for holding on to. I would purchase this item for the quality, ease of use, handy bottle opener, and overall design for most cooking.

Sturdy and comfortable to use. Don’t love the cloth loop on the end but still great.

Good tong!

These are good tongs. The have a good spring mechanism, easy to clean and feel good in the hand. I would have preferred them to be slightly longer though to get at the back of the frill without scorching oneself. Otherwise a good set of tongs and the bottle opener is a nice touch.

Best tool in the cupboard

These tongs are very useful. They have a very strong grip to firmly turn food while cooking. They are elegant to use when serving food. Cleaning was a breeze, food wiped off easily and they are dishwasher safe! The bottle opener could come in handy for those needing it. The little red loop is good for locating the tongs among other items. The locking mechanism feels very sturdy.

Great for camp or everyday use

These are a pair or surprisingly well designed set of tongs. They are sturdy, easy to use, and easy to clean. They're made of fairly thick, sturdy stainless steel and have held up well with being handled by a toddler (dropped repeatedly). It also means it's thick enough that it doesn't have any sharp edges. For ease of use, compared to some of the other tongs we have, these tongs work really well on a variety of foods. Of course they can handle your usual meats, but they also work well with softer foods like pasta without getting a lot of food stuck in the grippers. Whatever does stick is easy to clean off since there's no sharp inner corners in the tongs where food can get stuck. Overall they've been pretty easy to clean by hand, and the little loop at the end is useful for hanging them up to dry. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for tongs this size. At 10.5" they're a little short for grilling, but great otherwise.

Could be a little better but does the job

Agree with the other reviews- these do the job and work well. Wish they were slightly longer and not a fan of the rope at the end, but will be put to good use

Sturdy and so far reliable!

I brought these to a picnic and was able to use them on a variety of items: chips, cookies, shortbread, broccoli, and bottled beer and soda! I'm used to tongs with sharper teeth so I was curious if these would let food slide through too easily, but I was pleasantly surprised that they held everything well. Because the clampy part doesn't have sharp teeth, they were very easy to wash. I really like that there is extra friction on the handles so that they don't slip if your hands are greasy. It's easy to open single-handedly (just tap it against your waist or something), but it's difficult to close single-handedly unless you have a hook or something similar nearby; this is why I docked a star. I haven't tried these with more slippery foods, but I don't really take heavily sauced or messy items with me outdoors anyway.

Quality tool!!

I got these rings in the mail and I was slightly surprised by the weight of the box. It was heavier than I was expecting. I pulled the tongs out of its box and they had a good weight to them that I appreciated. Using the tongs was nice easy while cooking meat in cast iron skillets. A little short for open fire cooking. The nice addition was the bottle opener which came in handy!
