These poles are easy to use, relatively lightweight and perfect for the casual hiker. I have used these poles 3 times a week for the past 3 months and they are still great. I mostly hike moderate terrain in a hilly part of Ohio for about 30 miles a week. They are not compact but i don’t need them to be, they sit in my car waiting for the next hike. I hooked them onto my 65 liter Osprey backpack and they awkwardly dangled around my hips so they probably wouldn’t be ideal for a thru-hike or anything.
Sturdy poles, but the locking mechanism failed multiple times on rough terrain when I put too much of my weight on them (not ideal). I'm a geologist, so I mostly rely on poles for traversing steep slopes off trail with a heavy pack. Would not recommend these if you are hoping to use for a similar purpose, but they are likely just fine on trails and a great value.
Worked great on 46-kilometer mountain hike in south america but poles do not collapse small enough for convenient air travel. Most poles collapse to 1/3 actual size. These only collapse to 1/2 actual size.
These are good well made trekking poles. Easy to use.
I do love these poles but like another reviewer with the same poles, they don't collapse like other poles. Not a big deal. I'm a regular day hiker, 5-8 miles 3 times a week. I always have poles with me when I hike. But these poles don't fit well on my backpack pole straps (I have a REI hydro day pack). So I just leave them in my car already for the next hike. I do have two other pairs of poles, cheaper, but this are my favorite and go to trekking poles.
I rec'd these poles as a gift. The directions for setup from the manufacturer are very complex. I could not find the directions-illustrated button to push as part of the set up process. I attempted anyhow to do setup but the lower third of the poles collapsed when i carried them by their stock in my hand.
