I'm very happy with my new Trekking Poles, the added cushion in the handles provides real comfort
I really wanted to love these, but I did not. A salesperson told me my local REI doesn't sell anti-shock poles anymore, even as they were handing me this pair. I was wondering why they felt jarring to my wrists and shoulders, as well as shaky and unsteady; a couple days later I realized they were anti-shock. I'm sure the anti-shock feature is great if you're young and healthy, hiking the A.T. all day, but I use them partially for support and partially for balance, and that little bit of anti-shock makes them noticeably less stabilizing for me, as well as being a little too bouncy and jarring for my carpal tunnel and other old age issues. I returned these and bought a different pair -- without the anti-shock feature. On the plus side, the green is a nice color, and the height adjustment system seems to work well. I weigh 300 lbs, and they stayed at the height I set, even when I leaned forward and put a lot of weight on them, heading down a slope. I noticed a slight bending or bowing of the poles when I put weight on them going downhill like that, but it was less than any other poles in the store under $200. My 20 year old Trekking poles did not bend or bow like that, but they are no longer made.
