The hip belt is unnecessary and uncomfortable, gave me a burn when twisting around my waist when running a 50k. Also the "innovative" chest hooks are impossible to put back on -- I've worn this pack on and off for two years and never got the hang of it. Also no good place to put poles. It's not a terrible pack but for the Osprey premium price I expected way more. Get a Solomon pack instead.
In purchasing the Duro 15, I wanted to find the perfect compromise between the features and capacity required for big day hikes in variable conditions (i.e., hydration, packing layers, nutrition, and safety essentials) and lightweight performance. So far, this pack stands out as my favorite I've owned, having just put it to the test with a couple of hikes in WNC. It's super comfortable and snug on my frame, adjusts nicely, and offers ample space for everything I need to carry. My only suggestion for improvement is that I expected more from the trekking pole attachment, but I actually prefer securing my collapsed poles horizontally with the strap that cinches the exterior mesh pocket.
I wanted to love this pack, but i don’t. I got it for an overnight fast pack. It has enough volume, but it is so hot. Zero air flow, so you end up needing a lot more water to make up for the higher sweat rate when wearing the pack. I also don’t love the way it positions the weight. A vest is great because the pack moves with your upper torso, but this one sits too low and prevents the upper body and hips from rotating in a run. The front flask holders are nice though. I wish this had some structure or suspension that held the weight higher and with airflow. I would be happy with the weight shared between shoulders and hips, but I need my hips to have enough movement to run properly.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Disappointed is the word I’m looking for. I give 2 stars as Osprey did hold their word on replacing my old duro under warranty. When I recieved this one, the first thing I noticed is how much smaller the pack is in comparison to the previous. Barely able to carry a puffer jacket and winter hat. As well as lack of internal pockets which I relied on a lot to use this pack for versatility. The side zip access for the hydro pack makes accessibility easier, but it’s also more potential for damage. I feel like this redesign was to prevent people from using the pack for multiple activities outside of ultra, forcing you to buy a larger pack for anything that may require carrying more gear. As a striving minimalist, osprey really disappointed me with this change as it follows the corporate consumption path other brands have adopted over the years. My last pack lasted 3 year with lots of use. So let’s see how long this one lasts, but given the changes, there will be less activities the pack will be used for.
This pack Is horrible. There isn't even the same amount of storage as the old model they claim it's the same but it's nowhere near the storage capacity of the old model the new water bladder pocket zipper is horrible. It just falls down. Everything is mesh the storage pocket where the key goes is so small now it's a joke make a real pack off spray like the last model. Is this new one sucks I'll be selling this one online and looking for the old model what is wrong with osprey now are you guys cutting corners. Absolutely horrible
This pack is nothing like the last model. Storage has a lot less space missing a lot of storage areas sure the hip belt have a huge pocket but when it comes to carrying my gear that I need this Pat can't fit with the last model did the worst part of it all is the hydration hose the zipper just comes down after repeated use you won't even be able to keep the zipper down this pack sucks off spray
I really want this bag to work for me, and it does in the wintertime when I wear more layers, but in the summer, when I only wear a t-shirt, it injures my back. I’m 6’3” and it rides high and causes my shirts to rise up. Then the part of the bag where the reservoir hose meets the bag rubs on my exposed lower back and I’m bleeding even after a mere 5k. Not sure how to fix this, but I think the bag is simply designed too small.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the M/L and it's a little short for my torso (I'm 5-11); the hip belt is more of a belly belt and if I tighten it the shoulder straps (at their longest) hurt my neck after a couple of hours. the water sloshes a bit too, even with no air in the bag-- I also have a Talon and the water bag doesn't slosh in that. otherwise it seems to be great and looks like it can hold a lot of gear.
I totally agree with "Disabled G." I prefer the prior model by far, which had much better storage options and a better hydration storage design. I didn't realize the design had changed when I ordered my new one. It's going back and I'll have to hunt for a better option. Osprey, you've been my go-to brand for many years, but this was a mistake. Please fix this!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good. It fits quite snuggly. Still experience a bit of jump while running in it, but mostly due to water bladder. I need to work on adjustments inside the bag to secure the bladder and prevent it from jumping. Overall, happy with the bag. True test coming up- 100km trail run!
