I couldn’t find any other reviews of this shoe online so I thought I would weigh in with my experience. I went with the Quantic after ordering and returning many pairs online and trying on everything my local REI store had in stock. I have long, narrow feet and high arches and most shoes I tried were too wide and gap-y. These fit the best out of the dozens of shoes I tried, and even still the straps are comically long when I tighten them adequately and there is a gap under my heel. I ended up cutting off about 1.5” of each strap so the ends don’t get in the way, and the heel cup farts when I’m walking around the gym. I tried the size smaller and it was too short. I’m typically a size 39 and I got the 40. Even with the downsides, they were the best-fitting shoes I tried before I got impatient looking for the *perfect* shoe. The aggressiveness is just right for me for the gym climbing I’ve been doing!
Had these for about 4 months now. Tried these on and initially they felt great. The material is soft and didn't need to be broken in. The straps are so long it's honestly silly which is unfortunate because cutting them cuts off the quantic logo. They get caught on certain types of mats and in the way sometimes. They also gave my big toes really painful blisters that scarred and I ended up having to wear socks. Heal hooks are also painful because of the soft material. I do think they work well for small footholds though.
These shoes are terrible. I wore them for 2 weeks before the upper velcro broke in both. I am taping the velcro so I can keep using them and not lose my money. The heel is really bad, and they are not comfortable at all.
My main shoe has been a La Sportiva Women's Solution for the last few months. I gave them a good beating and decided I should get a pair to designate as my "beaters"–this shoe was on clearance and 50% off at my local REI. However, there's a reason for that, and it's because this shoe actually sucks. My true size in US men's is 7.5 E-EE width (for my boots and shoes), around 40-40.5EU. I typically downsize by 0.5-1.5 European sizes for my climbing shoes. I have quite wide feet and found this shoe to be INCREDIBLY uncomfortable at all those sizes. Something about the inside lining of the shoe is extremely uncomfortable. The inner material and shape of the shoe felt like it was destroying the knuckles of my toes, ESPECIALLY my big toes; they've even left a large welt for a few days. The toe box never felt comfortable at any size, and the shape of my shoe always felt like it was pushing my big toe inwards. If you have wide, high-volume feet, I advise against buying these shoes. The relatively slippery feeling rubber in combination with its overly moderate (really neutral) shape makes it a poor choice for bouldering or anything with bad foot holds. The heel of the shoe is also totally soft and not fully covered in rubber for some reason. You can collapse it and walk around as if they were slippers. Just don't buy this shoe. Nobody at my gym had anything good to say about it. If you're looking for a more wide-fit-friendly shoe, check out the Miura Vs! Also, returning these was no problem since REI customer service is always fantastic.
For the price these are very good shoes, saved my butt in AZ when my Vapors were on the verge of getting a hole through the leather. Breaking them in I got some nasty blisters, some tape on the heel patched that up. That’s the only reason I give it 4 instead of 5
I have had these shoes for about three months and climb about three times a week. The heel definitely had air space and soft rubber, and was not ideal for heel hooks. The straps were quite long and not in great places to maintain tension in the shoe. I also wore through the toe on one of the shoes, however that’s mostly due to sloppy footwork as I just started climbing. Overall not a great shoe, but it worked to get me started.
Comfy for wide feet, this is my second pair of these shoes. I can climb for hours without pain.
Overall good shoes, I got them on a labor day sale and got them for a decent price. So far having used them for pretty rough gym time and light outside bouldering, I have almost no problem and they fit well,(after I broke them in of course). However on both shoes the strap has come apart, I sewed one of them and other came apart while I was outside climbing and had to tape it.
Scarpa is the only brand I wear, but these ones are just a miss on their part. The velcro straps are way too long so they stick to the mats at the gym. They gap in weird places around the ankle. The heels are way too big and don't get a tight fit, bigger than some of the men's scarpas I've owned. Avoid these!!
these shoes have made it possible to continue climbing because I was getting terrible irritation on the back of my heel with my previous pair. I have severe challenges finding shoes wide enough and these suit me perfectly. my climbing has improved thanks to these shoes
