Great lightweight/minimalistic pack

I went with this pack to experiment on what I would need while out on climbing/quick mountaineering excursions to establish a baseline on what I would need and then build off of that. I bought the Blitz 20 pack and it came in the mail the night before I had a climb up the Trough at Tahquitz. I’ve found it great and had enough space for everything I needed and more if I needed and the rope strap on top is very convenient and can definitely be used more for just rope stowage. Makes for a great grab and go bag!

Great design at a great price. It would be nice to have a smaller version.

I love the design of this pack. I cannot think of a single thing that I would want to change about the design for alpine and ice climbing, except perhaps to make it in a smaller size. I generally carry this inside a larger pack to the base of a climb. Then I leave my bigger pack at the base, rack up, and use this as a lead pack. I usually just carry belay jacket and half a liter of water in the pack, which leaves it under-filled while on route. For this reason, I have gravitated towards using the 15L Rock Blitz pack as my primary lead pack for ice and alpine climbing, despite the lack of ice tool attachments and lack of water resistance on that pack.

Bought for multi-pitching

So far this bag seems solid in a lot of ways but could be better in a few areas Pros - large main compartment allows you to sort gear as needed without being divided unnecessarily. Two smaller packets allow quick access to keys, lights, phone, ect. Appears durable and rides high enough to not get in the way of a chalk bad. Cons - The water bladder pouch is annoying where you have to unvelcro the pocket 2/3 the way down and wedge your bladder in. This also makes it difficult to hook the bladder so it hangs properly. Shoulder straps could be more comfortable. The securing strap should be longer, its hard to get around a rope when the bag is full packed.

Too lightweight

I haven't tested this out yet, I primarily bought this for a biking or moped/motorcycle pack because it is bright and will match my white reinforced protection jacket. I would not take this ice climbing or in an area where it may be pressed or rubbed up against a hard surface(ice or rock, branches etc) as the type of abrasion this would face may wear it out. I would not haul a lot of edged objects in it either. It will work great as a day pack, or stuff sack for lunch, rain gear, extra shoes or socks etc. In this sense it will work great as a cyclist pack for going to work or running errands.

Blitz 20

Bomber daypack. Perfectly simple in design and lacking all the needless pockets. Comfortable when fully loaded. Rope strap and one handed closure are awesome features. On winter overnights I utilize this pack as a dry bag for clothing inside of my Mission 75. This allows me to set up camp and have an awesome approach pack for summit pushes. Only (minor) complaint is that I wish it had side compression straps for attachment of snowshoes/trekking poles.

Blue Strap ripped attachment point, hole in bottom

Ive taken this pack on approximately 15-20 weekend trips touring/multipitching. Recently securing a folded 30m rope down on top using the blue strap caused the grey elastomeric attachment point begin to and then progressively fail over a committed, fast and light 2 day alpine trip. Though ripping along the grey base fabric, it held together somewhat, thankfully no accidents. Pretty lame considering it acquired a dime-sized hole in the bottom after maybe 4 or 5 crag outings in the beginning. Thankfully this fail didn't propagate either.. Not recommended for rock climbing or proper alpinism.

Sweet little pack

I've got a great ski touring summit pack this size but I wanted a minimalist pack for climbing, hikes, and traveling. I was a little unsure of the reverse flap at first but this pack has quickly become one of my favorites. You could probably rig it up to carry skis, but I got it specifically so I didn't have tons of straps and danglers on non-ski ascents, etc. It is a tough sack with all the pockets I need and a really slick rope strap. The closure system is SO SMOOTH and when you remove the bivy pad, this thing rolls up to nothing in a larger gear bag. It's hard to find something so simple and so perfect. Perfect pack for buttermilking in Bishop or swanning through security lines at the airport. Love it.

Great for Any Style

This pack is great for getting your ice gear to the falls, getting your rock gear to the crags, and getting your butt up the mountain. Light, functional, and unobtrusive.

Just enough!

This is a nice, simple on route pack. Lighter and bigger than most 16L on route packs. All the things you want to take on route for a long rock route fit well without having to overstuff. Unobtrusive while climbing. I have not used it for alpine climbing, but I dont know if it would be reasonable to pack the full alpine kit plus crampons inside without going Mr. Bojangles on the harness from the trailhead. I think some light daisy chains on the outside for lashing crampons with shock cord, etc. would fix this without tipping the scales. Good pack! Thanks!
