Warm ears, cold head
I liked the look and material of this hat. The fleece lining along the bottom portion of the hat was nice to keep my ears warm, block the wind, and be cozy against my head. However, the fleece does not extend to the top of the hat. So my ears were warm but the top of my head got cold, especially in the wind. Maybe this works for folks who want/need a little ventilation up top but it did not work for me.
A Practical Beanie
This is my practical beanie. It fits well and it keeps my head warm. There is not one thing cute about it (which might be due to the medium gray color) but it does what I want it to do…keep me warm, fit under a hood, and match everything. You can also roll the band up for a totally snug fit. I haven’t washed it yet but I can’t imagine there will be a problem with that. Merino wool normally washes well.
