Remulakians rejoice!
Pros: 2 layers of nice, tightly woven wool with ample noggin coverage; Cons: this may be more hat than you want. I expect this will be great on cold, blustery days when I’m looking for full coverage of my ears and the back of my head all the way down to the occiput, but at about 12” depth, there’s enough there for a generous doubling-over of the cuff. Attached picture for reference — I just picked up the lighter-weight Trail-Ready reversible for warmer days.
Hat snob loves it
This Chaos hat is excellent - wish I had found it sooner. Wasted time/money with the itchy ill-fitting goofy labelled Patagonia Brodeo beanie because is was "100% wool". The Chaos 80/20 is the perfect ratio of wool/nylon for warmth and fit. Soft, no itch on my noggin. Nice low profile tag is a plus. The colors are perfect. Bought the light grey and will be getting another in green. Just a classy solid cuffed beanie. I am a convert.
poor quality wool
This is the scratchiest wool I have felt in a long time. I'm sure it will keep the head warm, but it doesn't feel good.
Perfect for cold weather!
When I originally got this delivered and felt it I was worried it might be a little scratchy, but after wearing it nonstop for 2 weeks I can guarantee it’s not felt scratchy once! Stays looking clean and doesn’t show dirt easily. Kept head warm and never worried about it falling off. Wore this while trekking Everest Basecamp so it definitely passes the cold test!
Soft and warm
Soft and NOT itchy as some have said. Keeps my head warm and looks nice.
Warm with snug-fit
I use this in very cold weather (below zero) as well as paddling right after ice out. It is my favorite hat of all time. Tight around the head so your head stays warm. Feels like 100% wool. Not itchy (to me).
Good beanie
A little small, but with its warmth and thickness it stretches nicely.
Terrible smell
Appeared to be a great hat, but it smelled awful. Like some kind of petroleum grease. Sadly I decided to wash it, thinking it would be fine. It smells worse, and I can’t return it. I’m super bummed. It seemed like it would’ve been warm.
Stay warm when the weather outside is frightful!
