Great mountain bike shoes!

Love these shoes!! I finally invested into some better mountain bike shoes and it was well worth it! These shoes immediately felt comfortable to my foot (can’t go wrong with Adidas) and have a very good grip on the pedals. No more sliding off the pedals, jumps with them are also no problem. Even during hot summer days and on longer rides these shoes kept my feet cool (to my surprise) and also did not lead to any tingling. I tried these on a skateboard (with limited experience) and the wider form and good grip seemed to help with balance. They are still looking good after several mountain bike rides. (As a side-note: they feel heavy while walking but perfect on the bike). I definitely recommend them!

Grippy, Wider Fit MTB Shoes

These shoes felt comfortable for my wider feet immediately out of the box (I usually wear Altras, for reference). What a difference in my rides with the extra grip on flat pedals! I can pedal harder, longer, and change gears more easily without kicking my feet off the pedals. I also had a 2.5h hike-a-bike adventure up a mountain in Frisco and these shoes worked comfortably and fine for pushing a 40lb bike up gravelly, rutted out forest service roads. My only complaint is the wide laces are a little slippery, so I usually need to double knot them.

Mountain bike shoes become my new favorite overall

I love them! They fit perfectly. I have wide feet and they don’t feel snug at all. I bought them to Mountain bike in and I end up wearing them for everything. I want to buy a second pair now!

Good for mountain biking

The shoes definitely run big by a half size. They are not shoes for long walks as the footbed doesn’t have much support but they have good soles for mountain biking and although the look is a little “puffy” like 80’s skater shoes, they look go on and even make your feet look smaller somehow. I recommend them for their intended purpose of mountain biking.

Well-made comfortable bike shoes, good fit.

I consistently wear a size 9 medium width and these shoes are true to size. The toe box is roomy but I could tighten the shoes enough for them to feel snug. This is my first pair of sticky bottom shoes and I can feel their extra grip on the pedals.

Wide!

Surprisingly wide for a 510. Lighter than my old ones, but I would say the soles are also not as stiff. Sticks to the pedals as you're expect. All in all, pretty happy with these. I wear a men's wide in Lakes, for reference.

Soles are grippy, they need more stuffing.

The soles on this burgundy pair are soft and grippy like they are Supposed to be. I bought the black version of them, and the soles on those were hard as a rock, almost like plastic. They could use a Lot more stuffing in the footbed. I wouldn't mind a wider width option, which would be better for longboarding. Better yet, I'd love to see a line of Women's skateboarding/longboarding shoes by Five Ten as well.

Not as grippy as prior versions

The soles have no grip and are slippery and dangerous to bike in. The shoes feel a half size to full size larger than previous versions. At first I thought I was given a mens shoe. These shoes have always been wider but are now feel too big/wide. These should be marketed as a street shoe. I would not recommend biking in them after riding in them once. I have purchased various Freerider flats for 7+ years. I normally don't review products but these feel unsafe enough to bike in. I purchased the Crimson color and they do look cute, just not functional. I really hope the Freerider Pro has better grip; those have traditionally been my go-to for longer and hotter rides and the Freerider Canvas has been my go-to for shorter/colder rides. I did compare the soles of an older Freerider Canvas shoe and can confirm they have much better grip than this pair. Hopefully this will get resolved in a future release.

Not as sticky as other shoes

These are cute and comfortable, but not as sticky as my Specialized sneaks. I'm going to keep the 5-10s for cruising around but I am going to buy a different pair for downhill. I've been coming off my pedals a lot more since I've started using them. With my previous shoes I rarely slipped off.

Inconsistent sizing

So I ordered the five ten freerider in size 10.5 and they didn't fit quite right. So, I saw the canvas version of the freerider and decided to get them in size 11. The size 11 was significantly smaller than the size 10.5. They were like a 9.5. So, I'm going to try size 12 now!
