Significantly heavier than advertised
REI advertises the weight of this product as 32 pounds. The manufacturer site advertises 37 pounds. I just weighed the backpack, hull, floor, seats, and fins, and it was 40 pounds. Add to that the pump and paddles (which I haven't bothered weighing), and you're probably talking 50 pounds or more on your back. If I was 20 years younger, no problem, but sadly I'll have to return it. The backpack is really cool, though. Wish that was sold separately. I _love_ REI and have been a member for decades, but they need to correct the specs on this one. I wouldn't have spent time going to the store to get it if I had known the actual weight.
perfect for our family of 6!
We bought two of these so our entire family could go kayaking together. We have 4 kids ages 6 and under and this allows us to get out on the water together. Pros: easy storage, blows up in 20min or less, very comfortable, seats can be adjusted, very sturdy on water even with our little kids being a bit rambunctious Cons: there is some manual labor in drying them out afterwards with a towel- specifically the crevices (took me 40 minutes to wipe both down and pack up), they are VERY big and heavy bags
Great new toy for our weekend getaways
This is our first inflatable kayak, and am very pleased with both its portability and performance. We have a 45 minute drive up a forest service road to our favorite reservoir, and being able to load the kayak into the back of the jeep, and setting up in under 10 minutes, allows us to be on the water in a short time.
