I liked this chair. The folding mechanism is sturdy, as are the wooden legs and canvas seat. Comfort is a small issue, and the lack of arms and cup holders somewhat defeats the purpose of a lawn chair. Also, the carrying mechanism is highly unusual leading to less than ideal carrying comfort. This chair really succeeds in reducing size and weight. It’s about half as heavy as a full-size chair. Although the carrying mechanism is unusual, the chair is held like a briefcase, so it can be easier to carry overall. The canvas is thick and of high quality. This chair can support a large weight. The real limit is based on side-to-side girth. I would guess anything over a men’s size 38 would pinch on the sides. Overall. I give it 4⭐️. It accomplishes its goal of making a lighter weight camping chair which can support a lot of mass. It falls a little short on utility without arms and a cup holder. Best use: car camping fire pit.
The Snow Peak Bamboo chair is a classy looking chair that could easily be used inside as well as out an about on camping adventures. I currently have it stationed on my three season sunporch and it is a comfy and functional addition to the space. I find the chair quite comfortable to sit in but do not think it would work well for all body types. The seat is fairly narrow so there is not a lot of room for hips. The height of the chair is just about perfect for my 5’7” frame as my feet touch the ground without me feeling scrunched but I think people much shorter might not reach the ground which might be less appealing. The carry strap is simple but functional. I can’t imagine myself carrying it a significant distance in addition to camping gear but it is fairly lightweight. I can see myself using it on car camping trips though I haven’t had the occasion to yet. The natural color of the canvas seat could easily get dirty but that isn’t a big concern for me at this time. Overall, it’s a good chair but may not work well for all body types.
I wanted to like this chair as I liked the carrying strap. I was a little leery of the white canvas color getting dirty but it can easily be removed from frame and thrown in wash. Whats wrong with this chair is it’s not very comfortable and feels like it’s squishing me. I’m only 5’4” and not a large person but the chair doesn’t expand very wide so my legs are only comfortable if I have them crossed. The bar just under the knees isn’t very comfortable either. Great concept but it should be built a bit wider.
Very aesthetic chair with thoughtful design - would expect no less from Snow Peak. Appreciate the natural materials, and ease of putting this all together (no yanking the edges to stretch over the poles, ifykyk). This is meant for casual camping (car camping, RV, etc) and does the job with flair. And it's nice enough to use indoors as well, which is what we're currently doing now in between trips! The only flaw I see is its overall small frame. I am a 5'4" 120lb female, and I find this chair perfectly sized for me. My partner is 5'10" and 180lb, and while he fits and feels stable, there isn't as much room for his legs / hips to move.
I only used this chair a few times and the fabric is already pulling apart at one of the seams.
Just received this chair in person. It’s exactly as expected & described. It’s a folding chair that can serve as indoor and outdoor seating. The bamboo, canvas, and aluminum feels timeless, with only the tiniest bit of plastic present as washer-spacers for the swivel action. Slight off-gassing smell upon unboxing, unpleasant, but seems like it will fade rather quickly
It has good lower back support, which cannot be said for most folding chairs that seem to want to try to fold you into the chair, mold you into a “C” shape. I wish it were a little cheaper, but it has a good natural look, and is very light and simple. At 6’1”, 210, I wasn’t expecting it to be as comfortable based on it’s smaller size, but it works!
I loved these at first. They have a cool look. I wanted to use them as patio furniture when I wasn’t camping, but they developed mold on the material. And they were stained by dirt, washed them and the mold and dirt wouldn’t come off.
While this chair definitely looks beautiful, it is neither sturdy nor safe. It does not remain stable, even when very small people are sitting in it. While I enjoy the way it looks for sure, I’m returning it due to not being able to trust it for loved ones or for myself, for that matter.
