High quality camp chairs

We've had the Low Beach Chairs from Snow Peak for about five months now and have taken them with us on all of our trips. They are constructed really well and are surprisingly easy to keep clean. It also pairs perfectly with Snow Peak's IGT system, Pack and Carry Fireplace, and Fireside Ottoman.

Comfy chair

At first I was concerned that this chair would be too low, but it isn't as low as the mass-produced low beach chairs commonly found in the US. This one is a perfect height for a lower, relaxed seat and it has a tall back which is perfectly supporting, particularly if your butt to head height isn't all that long, then it will even support your head. The height is great for sitting around the Takibi firepit. Snow Peak sells a matching folding ottoman, and though not necessary, and we find that they are nice to put your feet up for an even more relaxing seat.

Portability & Comfort

Purchased two of these last year for outdoor events and car camping. They are a bit spendy. However, overall they are well made and comfortable typical of Snow Peak gear. As I age, I'm finding myself checking the seat to ground height of these types of chairs. These are not standard height nor are they as low as some folding beach chairs that rest six inches off the ground. They fold almost into a tube-like shape and slip in to a sleeve that has a nice long strap so you can throw them over your shoulder for an easy carry. Since they are aluminum, I am reticent to use these at the beach as sand and salt water could enter the nooks and crannies of the folding leg structure. They almost seem to dressy for the beach IMO. Design is all canvas, wood and aluminum, no plastic except for the feet.

Maybe it's for shorter people?

People seem to love the comfort of this chair, but I can't agree. Maybe it's because I'm 6'01", but the curve of the back of this chair causes me to get into a hunched position. I tried it out in my garage for a bit but my back started barking at me after just a couple minutes. If you're tall, your low back will curve into the lower part of the seat back, causing an unhealthy and uncomfortable compression on your low back. It does not recline at all and it's a fairly upright position which makes it worse. I will say that it's very well made. The materials and construction are far superior to any other camp chair I've owned. And the 14" seat hight is a bit lower than the more common 16". I prefer the lower height which is the main reason I bought this. That and Snow Peaks reputation for making quality gear. The quality is absolutely no question. But comfort is very subjective. The back is also fairly narrow so if you have wider shoulders, then you'll likely have the poles digging into your shoulders. I tried placing a pillow behind my back and that helped, but I can't justify an expensive chair which isn't very comfortable without modifications. But if you find it comfortable (or if you have a very flex-y back), then it's a great chair. For what it's worth, my wife is 5'4" and she said it was comfortable.

Got a used chair at full price

This is my first time using REI. I bought two chairs and finally received a used one without any packing and box. I cannot believe REI sold this rubbish at full price and I have to go to the UPS to return it. I reached out to the customer service and they didn’t feel surprised at all.
