Sizing Notes
Altra’s unique FootShape™ toe box and zero to low shoes are built to place your foot in a natural position, with a stable and confident foundation to run on. When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.
Altra offers a range of FootShape fits:
Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.
Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.
Slim Fit: The slimmest-fitting Altra option still allows room for your toes to spread out naturally.
IS THIS SHOE TRUE TO SIZE? The product Features above will provide a suggestion if Altra advises you to size up or down in this particular shoe. If no such note exists, please order your regular size.

Altra Torin 5
I have absolutely no reason to bash Altra, I was very impressed by how comfortable their shoes were ( flat sole, wider toe box, etc) . I bought other models and recommended them to other friends. But after about 6 months the individual segments of the outsoles were separating from the rest of the shoe. I did contact Altra and sent multiple photo's. They said it was normal wear and tear. It's not. I'm 64 and have never seen an outsole peel off in segments. I don't run, walk on sharp objects like dry lava, or anything else that's weird. Also the toe of the shoe was wearing through after 6-7 months. No, I don't have long toe nails like a vampire. I am still going to wear their shoes, but you should know that they don't last long.
Great upper, poor tread
Used for general walking and light running every other day. Tread is peeling a new section just about every day after about 2 months of ownership.
Good morning Robert. We hope you are having a swell day. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and we would really love to hear more about what's going on. One of our Altra Experts has emailed you directly and you should receive it shortly! Thank you so much for being a loyal Altra fan.
I couldn't suggest due to sole adhesive quality
let me start by saying I've purchased 3 pair of Altras for my 8. year old, and I have King MT 2's, Escalantes, 2x escalante racers, Superior 4, superior 5, Olympus 4, Rivera, Vanish tempo, Outroads, and I'm awaiting delivery on my Mont Blanc Boas. I've had almost all of the Altras and have tried on the rest. As an avid runner, and single track SoCal Mountain trail runner, I purchased this pair for casual use and not running. I haven't so much as worn these on a single run and yet the sole separated from the midsole. This is a troubling indication of poor quality since I haven't even run in them. Further raising my suspicions of quality control issues is everyone else mentioning the issue of the sole separating. Open and close case... The adhesive from the ego max and the rubber sole had an issue on these shoes. It's a shame, they look great and feel comfortable, hopefully they sort this out. I l don't make much money and apparently I spend a good chunk of it on my running sneakers. Watching an expensive pair of shoes I bought for looks, and to use as walking casual shoes, stings.
Unfortunate quality issues.
I've now had 3 pairs of the Torino Luxe shoes and every one of them has the same quality issues. The right shoe splits by the pinky toe and the left shoes sole separates under that pinky toe. These shoes are lasting 6 months, if I'm lucky, before these issues show up. Considering they are meant to be worn daily and I wear them for work it looks bad when this haopes. I've worn Altra for a decade and they just are not the quality they used to be. I'll have to find a new brand that lasts.

Comfy but not durable
I bought these shoes a month ago. They are super comfortable but unfortunately they are starting to fall apart already. The tread on the bottom is peeling away in a few different places. I have worn them everyday since I bought them, so maybe that's why but it's a bit soon for this to happen in my opinion.
Great feeling shoe but low quality
Shoe feels great however just about like everyone is saying, not even 2 months in and the bottom treads are starting to peel off! Hoping that a little glue can hold them together? For the feel of these shoes though they feel amazing!!
Poor quality
Shoe sole starting delaminating one month after I staring wearing it. The upper material is of poor quality as well. definitely a decrease in shoe quality. Altra needs to re think the manufacturing process

Amazing walking sneakers!
Altra nailed these! I've been using Altras for running for ages, but never been thrilled with their more casual options. I do a lot of city walking, and these are absolutely perfect. Easily the best looking Altras I've had, and maybe the most comfortable. Their fit is getting a little slimmer than early generations, while still being a good bit wider than other brands. Despite the generous cushioning, they are still quite light. They're my go-to shoe for long days on my feet, look slick enough to dress up a bit, and can still be used for light jogs if needed (making em a perfect travel shoe). Stoked to see Altra continuing to refine.
Sweet sassy molassy! Yum yum gimme some!
I've been running with my friend Escalante for a while. And yes the 2.5 is a pretty tasty foot chariot, but, and this is a big butt, it can't touch this shoe. It is so hecking fun to wear. The sole has a different sound to it when it hits the pavement. A perfectly pitched drum beat that makes you stop thinking about the physicality of running and allows you to zone out and just BE. I swear I'm sober right now but this shoe feels like it's part of my foot and I'm standing in a creamy bowl of mashed potatoes. I can't wait for my next run...
Great Shoe
I started running in Torins back in 2017. I liked the Torin 3 and thought the Torin 3.5 knit hit the nail on the head. I read mixed reviews about the Torin 4s so I skipped them. This shoe (Torin 5 luxe), however, has everything I liked about the Torin 3.5 knit and then some! The toebox is roomy and the upper material is noninvasive. The bottom is more durable than the Torin 3s. The shoe feels springy and faster than the Torin 3s, yet it still gives plenty of space. I have a bunion on my right foot and problems with a lot of other shoes, but not this one. Altra hit it out the park with this shoe! I have been very pleased with it.
