They are comfortable and lightweight, but they are not waterproof as advertised. Hiked 10 miles with intermittent snow and the toe box on both shoes leaked water. Socks were dry everywhere except the toes. Shoes were not even submersed in water, just ridiculous. I'm usually a fan Salomon shoes but these are a joke.
These shoes are great on keeping my feet warm, but the outsoles aren't grippy in the snow or ice. Yesterday it snowed about a foot of snow and I was walking down the hill from my home to work and I almost slipped and fell. Luckily I have a good balance and I only slide. It happened again later in the evening when I was clearing snow of my driveway. I bought this shoe for two main reasons, its marketed as grippy outsoles and warm insulation. Insulation works great but at this point the outsoles are more important to me. I am very disappointed the outsoles don't perform as it is marketed to do so. They definitely do not offer stability, grip and protection on wintry terrain.

Love them so much, I bought two pair. One for everyday winter use and the other pair, one half size larger, for intense backcountry hiking/snowshoeing when I'll be wearing a sock liner, vapor barrier sock, and a heavy woolen sock. Battle-tasted in cold, snowy conditions while snowshoeing in Stowe, Vermont. Performed like a champ! As expected. Thanks, Salomon!
Looks good, fits well, great cushion Not waterproof, socks get wet even walking on wet grass Have yet to own a true waterproof shoes, so will not spend extra on this worhtless feature
Bought these boots about a month ago, i have tested them in rain and wet grass they have great traction. The comfort is there only wish they were more fit.
Bought these boots two months ago. I finally decided on the tswp instead of the goretex version. Mainly for the insulation. Done two 20k hikes and several shorter ones. Tested them in the snow and rain and they performed to expectations. First of all, I like the light weight. Can even do a slow trot over short distances. They felt a little roomy ( compared to the Speed Cross 5 ) so I slipped in a thin insole. Worked out great. The wider footprint ( I got a std width ) provided good stability. The toe box was good going downhill and there was good support at the back going up. Ankle support was adequate on uneven ground. Can't vouch for durability at this point but I will provide a comment later. Overall I will give it 5 stars.
I bought a pair of Salomon winter boots upon the recommendation of a friend saying they were the warmest he’s ever had. I have been extremely happy with these boots, wearing them in 10 degree weather with one pair of wool socks and my toes were perfectly warm. I love winter outdoors but have always had to wear 2-3 layers of socks and still get cold toes. This is the best pair of boots I have found. Hopefully I will have these as long as my friend has had his - over 15 years
These boots are not just boots, they are a reliable companion for your winter adventures. The first thing you’ll notice is the warmth. The THINSULATE™ insulation does an excellent job of keeping your feet cozy, even in the harshest winter conditions. Whether you’re walking through a winter wonderland or shoveling snow, these boots ensure your feet stay warm. One of the standout features of these boots is their impressive grip. The CLIMASALOMON™ WATERPROOF technology ensures that you won’t slip, no matter how icy the conditions. This makes them perfect for winter hikes or simply navigating icy city streets. Comfort is another area where these boots excel. They fit snugly around your feet, providing excellent support without feeling restrictive. You can wear them all day without any discomfort, which is a testament to their well-thought-out design.
Very warm and comfortable. No break time was needed, right out of the box they fit well. Toe box is plenty big allowing for heavier socks when it gets real cold. I have gotten good traction on ice and snow. There is good flex in the sole, my other boots are super stiff ice climbing and mountaineering boots. I have walked several miles in deep snow and I have stayed warm and dry.
I purchased these in response to my deteriorating condition of my previous Salomon boots, which had served a term of 4 years in a range of conditions. The new boots are a step up in tech and comfort. I average around 5Km a day mostly hill walking and these boots have taken everything i have thrown at them whilst keeping my feet toasty. Very useful in the recent UK colder snaps.
