This is my 9 th Salomon hiking boots pare. I bought last month and used on five hikes approximately 80 km in snow and cold hikes around -10c weather. My feet’s feels more cold than average person that’s why I bought these boots. It’s heavy and big also very little harder from inside then other Salomon boots.I used extra insoles and feel perfect. I give 5 stars these boots because I never get freeze my feet’s in my last five hikes, grip is also better than other Salomon boots , fits perfectly on first hike . Overall I’m very satisfied with these boots pare.
I have only had these for a few days but right away I noticed that they are a good fit to size and very comfortable. I have only walked on my hilly property with them but grip on slope is good and ankle support excellent. I was searching for something a bit lighter than my Zamberlins I wear from day to day. They are quite a bit lighter but not particularly cooler in hot weather. They are made for cool weather so that's to be expected but is not really a problem. I have had some Salomons in the past that seemed to break down in support rather quickly but these seem to be a bit more stout in that regard and the improved one-pull lace system works great, quick on and off. No lacing up which is very convenient.
Purchased these for Winter backpacking (with and without snowshoes), and they have not disappointed. Fit is perfect, and the nimble athletic boot design lends itself far better to snowshoeing than large, bulky pack boots (I.e., Sorel and similar). I normally wear size 9.5 and ordered these in 9.5. They have just enough space to handle expedition socks without having to size up and/or deal with a sloppy boot fit, and they are incredibly warm, especially while hiking. The sole design adapts perfectly to both microspike and snowshoe applications. Extremely happy with these boots and the purchase through REI.
The Salomon Men's Crosstrak are fantastic! In Salomon fashion they are true to size, very grippy(even on ice) and extremely warm. I own a number of Salomon hiking boots and trail running shoes and I can confidently order my size and know they will fit thus avoiding returns. The lacing system is substantial and can be tightened down or worn loose. The foot bed is warm and supportive providing a firm feel on varied terrain. They did not require a break-in period. In knee deep snow in Montana, my feet stayed warm and dry. I feel they are a great value for the price and expect they will continue to deliver a high quality experience. I highly recommend the Salomon Crosstrak!
I've worn these boots all winter for my job (survey field tech in Western Massachusetts) and they have held up extremely well despite the snow, barbed wire, trees and mud. The quick lace system is nice and held up but laces would have done just fine. My one gripe was all Solomon boots is the inner sole is not the most comfortable for me, so I usually swap that out right away. Aside from that, I'm really enjoying the warmth and insulation of these boots along with the "snow resistance" that they have. Even when sludging around in wet crappy snow they do not get wet. It just wicks right off
Purchased for my husband for Christmas. Salomon is his go-to hiking shoe/boot, so this winter boot was a must. From the moment he put them on, he felt that same comfort as his other hikers. He loves the lacing system for easy on and off. After walking in them several miles through the woods a couple days each week, he absolutely loves them. They are extremely warm for feet that get cold which is the best feature. There is enough room to wear full cushion hiking socks. Overall excellent boot for winter activity. Thank you Salomon for making this winter boot.
These shoes are amazing for the snow and ice. I use them in Mammoth Lakes in the winter to get around everywhere. The laces concept works great and makes the shoe easy to put on and take off. The only part that was disappointing was the footbed. I was expecting a fit more like the Solomon trail running shoes that have a very supportive narrower fit with a nice arch. This one has more of a flat and wide profile inside the shoe and is sized a bit larger. Thankfully, I was able to add a Superfeet insert (winter low profile model) and the combination works perfectly.
Took them out for a 10 mile, 3000 foot elevation gain yesterday. Bare boot for first two miles then snowshoes the rest. Very grippy in the snow and super comfortable on snowshoes with and without televator up. These will be my full winter condition boot and my Keens will be my shoulder season boot. For size, I usually wear a 9 in boots (Keen) but I ended up with a 9.5 in these. The 9s were too tight in the toe area and if I can’t move my toes in a boot, they will get colder, faster. I actually like the lacing system. It feel more uniform pressure wise.
These boots are very comfortable for long distance walking on hard packed snow and light powder. They are very warm. Used them in -17 for a 3 hour hike and they were perfect. The only downfall is the laces. I really like Salomons lacing system on their shoes, I have 2 pairs of Salomon hiking shoes and they are awesome. The problem with the laces on these boots are the length. They have 12 inches of lace sticking out after being tightened that has to be rolled up and tucked into the lace holder. Not handy if you want to put them on to head outside for a quick trip. The lacing system is nice and tight when walking however without any slipping inside the boot. I like them but probably wouldn’t buy another pair solely due to the mildly annoying laces.
I bought this boot to replace my Solomon X Ultra 04 - these are more of a true boot. They come up a bit higher and a warmer. I’ve had them out in - 20 while walking and my feet were still warm. The thicker deeper tread is good on hard pack snow. I like the boot, it keeps your feet warm and dry. I would have given it 5 starts if it wasn’t for the “quick tie lacing system” - I’m still getting used to it, but I think I would have preferred standard laces.
