Great boots to keep your kids active this winter
I got these for my ten year daughter. We are stationed in Germany and do a lot of traveling and outdoor activities. These boots are great and have been my daughter’s go-to shoes this winter. She wore them for a 7 mile hike in Bastogne, commemorating the 79th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. She has explored several castles and castle ruins in Luxembourg and Germany. She used them to sled in the German and Austrian alps. Her feet have been dry, warm, and comfortable in every occasion. I would recommend these boots for any child.
Cold
I'm an adult with small feet, so I decided to try these boots. They were comfortable-ish but not warm at all. I could feel the cold if I stood in the snow more than a few minutes. These are the only boots I've had where I had to use toe warmers. I didn't have a problem with waterproofing. I wore my snow pants over the boots and never had an issue going through deep snow. If you get snow down a boot, you're going to get wet. Never had an issue with snow seeping in from anywhere. The traction wasn't the best and definitely would walk carefully through snow-packed trails or sidewalks. There are better boots out there.
Waterproof, warm, easy to put on / take off
High quality boots that are waterproof, comfy and easy for kids to put on and take off by themselves. The little toggle is really hard to press and engage when adjusting the fit and tightening up the top area by their calves. My kids ended up just pulling the elastic, which I could see becoming a problem with frequent use. The boots do need to be adjusted everytime to tighten the top in order to keep the snow out. The first day I didn’t pull them tight enough and snow got through into the socks/boots. Once I adjusted the fit, they were perfect for a long day of sledding and playing in very deep snow. True to size.
NOT waterproof
I purchased multiple options (including Keen and Bogs) for my 10 yo son to try. He had loved and requested the same pair of Keen boots the past four years, but did not like the updated style this year. He immediately said the Snow Quest Lite’s were by far his favorite, and they even felt better than his previously favorite Keens. He loved the amount of toe room and could not believe how light they felt, especially compared to the Bogs. He does have slightly more narrow feet and insisted on cinching the toggle laces quite tight making them look a little silly and the laces too long, but it was fine. Wearing them a few times sledding he said they were very warm and lightweight running back up the hills. When the snow became slushy, there were problems! Just walking through a parking lot his feet got wet. Coming in from recess his feet were SOAKED- making him freeze! Not talking jumping in puddles, just slushy snow. If you’re only wearing them in powder snow, they’re great, but this is not an option in MI. I hate that I’m now looking to spend more money on another pair of boots, especially this late in the season when most are sold out.
Not waterproof
These are not waterproof! Water gets into the boot at the front just above where rubber and material connect where the first loop of closing is. I have 2 pairs and it is the same story. My kids are coming back from playing outside and their feet wet. Checked for the leaks under running water and discovered the exact spot, same on all 4 boots. Disappointing, false advertising. Will be returning these boots to the store.

Toe space, lightweight but hard to dry
My son likes lots of toe space (wears Altra running shoes) so these were the only model out of 10 boots we tried that he felt like he had enough wiggle room. Plus they are super light which is a must for him to make snow play fun. Sadly though they have no removable liner. My experience is that all kids boots get wet to a degree based on how they play in snow but with a removable liner they can dry overnight. These keep his feet dry while he plays but the moisture ends up in the fabric and doesn’t dry for a week. I’ve had to hair dry them every time. He loves the fit… I hate the maintenance.
Thank you for sharing you son's experience and your experience with the Snow Quest Boots. We will be sure to pass it along.
Day 1- not waterproof!
I was so excited to get these boots for my two boys (5 & 8). We normally get Bogs, but they are quite heavy, and these boots are so light and said they were waterproof, so I thought it was worth a shot! Today was the very first day my kids wore them… both came home with soaking wet feet. I am incredibly disappointed, it’s hard enough having to spend money and buy good outdoor gear for your kids, but to then spend the money and basically have it be a waste. I had such high hopes, my boys loved how lightweight they were, but where we live, we get a lot of snow, and if these boots couldn’t cut it when there was just a little, there’s no way they’ll work once more starts coming down. Learn from me and save your money!
I bought these 3 months ago and they leak quiet badly, no sure why but my son is coming home frequently with set socks

A repeat favorite - Warm, Dry, Light and Comfy
Light, Comfortable and Durable - We have kept getting these for my 3 boys year after year...they generally survive at least 2 seasons and keep their feet dry and warm. I only take a star off because they only go to size 7. Make them in bigger sizes please, My 12 and 14 year olds have outgrown this series and are missing these boots...they have not found something as nice in "adult" boot sizes. Seriously...i would buy a simple light boot like this for me.
my 3 1/2 year old loves
I got my 3 1/2 year old a size 8 and she adores them. She wants to wear them all the time. They're very light and but also warm, and she can get them on and off by herself most of the time (I think they're probably a touch large on her, but size 7 in a different Merrell was too small. Also she has skinny little legs). I love them so much that I want to get both my kids these boots for next year, but I can't predict what size they will be!
