Excellent work or play rain boots
Excellent rainboots for trudging around in the mud and puddles. Perfect for those muddy mornings on the ranch when you step into what looks like a small shallow puddle and ends up being much deeper than you thought! LOL! The bottoms of these boots are also great because they are not flat so you're not slipping and sliding all over the place when walking/working. They are actually fairly comfortable when wearing almost all day long. And the handles at the top help a lot for fast and easy slip-on; although they are a bit tight and stiff at first but they broke in very fast, not stretched out just not stiff anymore. Highly recommend!
Comfortable and warm
When ordering Bogs for me, I had a size 10 sent which is my shoe size. Toes fit right up against the boot. Called customer service and she advised me to exchange for an 11 because it's important that there is room in the boot to keep the inner heat of your foot circulating. Makes sense to me! Return was easier than I thought it would be and the size 11 arrived today. The fit is perfect as I wear a little heavier sock in the winter. Plenty of snow here already in Upper Michigan and I've been outside for a few hours and know I'll be toasty warm from head to toe this winter, snow blowing and shoveling. I'll be testing them on snow shoes also. Very satisfied!
Nice Rainboot, but....
"GlacialGrip slip-resistant outsoles provide maximum traction on wintery surfaces", is simply just not true. I'm ok w/clunky tread, IF it is functional. I wore these to walk my dog on a PNW rainy day - hit a protruding tree root & almost slipped, as well as slippery on anything painted on the street (crosswalks, speedbumps,etc...). I can't help but ask myself why have such big tread if you have to watch you the ground most of the time? I will say they are warm & comfy, but absolutely not meant for even the slightest bit of slick surface. Be careful with these!
Best boots for a messy Montana Winter
These boots have been fabulous so far during our early heavy Montana snowfall. Snow here is messy, and you can ruin even durable boots. These boots are keeping me very warm and dry while in deep snow. I wear them for snow shoveling, dog walking, and running errands where i encounter dirty black slush on the streets. They are some of the warmest boots I have. The soles are rugged and provide good traction. The black are also quite attractive for this type of boot. Overall I'm very pleased with them.
great - but wish they had half sizes!
initially ordered an 8 and they felt way to small and narrow - so I sized up to a 9. I wish they came in half sizes bc an 8.5 would have been perfect. I'm keeping the 9's even though they are a bit big - I've been wear heavy socks with them and it definitely helps and I plan on adding a foot liner to make them a bit more snug. I've been wearing them around in the rain, melting snow and mud and they so far have performed great! love the look for a work boot - I purchased the dark grey/black camo.
Not very warm and changed shaped
I bought these for ease of slip on, waterproofness and warmth during the winter. They seem to be waterproof and easy to slip on, but they are not warm. Went sledding in low 30 degrees weather and my feet were cold. I had thick winter socks on too. They are rated down to negative F degree weather, but I don't see how they could keep your feet warm in that cold of weather when they could not do so around 30 F. They also changed shape after wearing in the snow. At the interface between the fabric and rubber around the ankle, they kind of shrunk a bit and started to poke inwards which rubbed just below my ankle bone and caused blisters on both feet. Overall I am not very impressed with them.
Cozy, Stylish, Comfortable
I own several pairs of Bogs boots. I purchased this one to replace a 10-year old pair of Bogs high boots. I like the design of these boots very much--more than the ones I am retiring. I am able to stuff a pair of boot-cut jeans with ease. The fleece lining in the inside makes these boots cozy and warm, which makes standing in the cold weather while my German Shepherd Scout does "snow angels" a pleasure. The chunky soles are stable and grip snowy and icy surfaces, which is handy when Scout pulls me in another direction turning her attention to a small critter. I am happy with the arch support for most winter activities. They match a grey arctic parka that I own. I am very happy with the purchase.
Good to about 10 degrees
As long as you're moving these boots are good to about 0 °F. If your standing around or riding your bike you'll need to add toe warmers if the temperature is below 10°F. I won't return them because they're great above 10, but I'm really disappointed because they're rated to -57, which is grossly inaccurate.
Wonderful warm stylish boot - watch out for sizing
I absolutely love these boots. They look great and are unbelievably warm. If I had to do-over or give any advice, it would be about the sizing because they came up so big. I had checked the size chart before ordering, but it wasn't completely helpful because the shoe box itself states the European equivalent, which would have been more helpful. I am European and I know my size is 39 - my boots are too big because they are a 40, not because they come up big. I chose to keep them as they are wonderful and I couldn't wait to wear them, LOL.
Dogs love Bogs
I wear these boots for winter dog walks and they have held up well to the cold, ice, and heavy snow we have been experiencing this season. These boots have good support, as I can take longer walks without feeling any soreness in my legs or feet. Wear these with long socks, though, as I have noticed some rubbing at the back ankle when wearing ankle socks.
