Love this shirt!
This shirt is not a true flannel as flannels go. Most flannels are thicker and fuzzy and cotton, and this shirt is not that. But I have to say, as an outdoorsman(woman) , this shirt is a do all, preform all, comfort all, type of shirt. I can wear it hiking, it wicks! I can wear it on cool mornings at camp, it’s warm. I can wear it in town, it is classy. I can throw it in my weekend bag, it does not wrinkle. I’ve had it a year now and it has washed and worn well. It still looks great, and it’s wearing great too. I like it so much, I just ordered a spare since REI has it on clearance. I want to add, it does not pill either. Win!
Nothing to do with flannel
I purchased this shirt thinking I would get an actual flannel shirt. As soon as I touched it, I knew there was not a speck of flannel in it. 95% polyester, 5% lycra spandex. If a polyester shirt is what you're looking for, you might be happy with it. I wanted cotton flannel. Now I wonder what "Thermotech Flannel" means. Should rename it "Thermotech Polyester."
Perfect cut, fit, and fabric
This shirt is so comfortable and the cut is perfect for me. I am actually very picky about how a garment fits and drapes on me, if it is symmetrical, if the collar stays in place, buttons stay done up without gaping, if the button placard (if it's called that?) is straight, etc. This one is done right, and the fabric is soft.
Darn Good Poly-Flannel
I took a chance on polyester being suitable as a flannel. Beautifully made. Bought this in another color as well. Because of the cut of the torso it fits a bit big in the shoulders.
Using shirt for light-weight jacket or heavier top
Great fit for a medium build, 130#, 5'5". Looking forward to the Royal Robbins quality and thermal wear.. I had to call in for washing instructions (lukewarm or cool water).
Tight fit all around
Tight fit! Other REI XL purchases have been comfortably sized, this was tight all around. Sadly, I have to return this item.
Not quite fitted enough
Although I hesitated whether to keep, I ended up returning. Love the color, style, material, and overall look; however, the torso is slightly too large. Would like for it to be a bit more fitted. Worried I would not wear it.
