Although this looks like a great bag, please be aware you do need some decent space on your seat rails to attach properly. I returned product because I would of had to move my seat to accommodate the bag.

Great Quality w/Installation Concerns

Looking to replace an older style Topeak Wedge bag with the straps, I purchased the bag with the clamp style attachment. Quality of the bag is outstanding. Lower rating is simply on the ability to attach the clamp to the saddle rails. Based on your seat post clamp and saddle position, there might not be enough room for installing the clamp. Which was the case for me on my road bike. On my gravel bike with a different seat post and saddle, I tested the new bag and installation was no problem. Looks super clean and solidly mounted. However, I returned the bag since the size purchased was to small for my gravel ride needs. Trail and error for fit is the best recommendation .

Nice bag, but be sure you have space for mounting

Nicely made, good capacity and more when expanded, but be sure to check that you have enough room on the seat rails to attach it. The clamps for the bag attach to the parallel sections of the rails behind the seat post clamps; you need at least 20 mm for the clamp to fit. both - if your saddle is positioned forward on the seatpost, you may not have enough space to attach the bag. I had to switch to a zero setback seatpost to make room for the clamp to fit. Also, the bag curves down to attach to the seat post 10-12 cm below the rails of the saddle, so be sure you have space there as well.

Stay away from topeak saddle bags

Worst product I've ever bought from REI. First off it's not universally fitting. I bought this for a second bike which has bigger spare tubes than my roady. While I appreciate the size it does not fit on the seat posts. Secondly there's no threading to hold the bolt in place so even if it did fit, I'd see a seat bag go splat on the side of the road first time I'd use it. Piece of junk. PS my roady has a bontrager seat bag, it works with velcro-- about 1000% times easier and better-- I'd suggest you consider that brand instead. Or at least something that works with velcro, which works fine-- trust me I ride many thousands of miles a year.

solves the age old problems of tail bags.

My two issues with tail bags is they are usually too small to hold much and they are a pain to get on and off the bike when you want to, particularly if you are a graceless man with gigantic hands like me. This bag is a game changer! It holds a spare tube, tire levers, multi tool and an energy bar. That’s the stuff I hate leaving home without. Expanded you can fit a pair of arm warmers or light jacket. The attachment system is genius. I got it attach in less than 5 minutes and the bag then comes on and off easily. Beware though the nut on the seat mount is not secured (really Topeak?) and it’s small and hard to see when you drop on a concrete floor. Ask me how I know). But once it’s on you will never worry about it again, well until you buy a new bike. It’s a great idea and we’ll executed. Highly recommend.

Great case! No flopping on seat and holds all necessary tools & supplies. Doesn’t affect dropper post.

Not for aggressive riding

Broke at the plastic clip that slides into the saddle undermount. Had it just over a year. Used it on local mountain bike trials. Nothing all that gnarly out here.

Nice pack but clip doesn't fit many saddles

The clip element that attaches under the saddle didn't fit on two of our bike saddles. Even though it looks nice and cleaner than a strap, I had to go back to the strap version. The size of the pack itself suits our needs by being small, light and compact and holds just enough such as spare, CO2, small tool, tire levers, and reflective strap for pants legs.

Great for gravel/road biking

I use this bag for storing a spare tube, tire levers, CO2, bike tool and safety light! I don't recommend this for full suspension bikes, but works great on my Salsa Cutthroat and Kona Jake. You can purchase a separate hanger so you can swap the bag between bikes easily. Works for me!
