I wanted to love it.
I was so excited about this rope. I love the colour, length, diameter and feel of it when it first arrived. I also was excited about it being the Honnold Edition. I took it out for one small day of climbing (we did two pitches) and it got a good knick in it. What bothers me is I can't think of when/how it happened. There were no falls, no top topping no sharp edges. This makes me double think the whole integrity of the rope. You can see the white sheath and feel that the rope is now so soft it can bend and touch each other. I will now have to chop about 10 meters off of it already.
Do not buy this rope
Do not buy this rope. It was core shot after a month of light use -- no whips or major falls. This doesn't even remotely meet my expectations for safety or durability. Scared me half to death to come off a climb and see that on my new rope. The BD warranty team said this was normal wear and tear. In 20+ years of climbing, I've never had a rope degrade this fully -- even after years of use. Shamefully bad.
Great Climbing Rope
This was the first rope I ever bought. Just starting to climb this rope is great with the black marks that show the middle point. Super happy with this rope.
First climbing rope
This rope was purchased for its high visibility coloring and thicker diameter. As a climbing noob, I wanted a robust rope that would provide plenty of friction to allow for assured catches while belaying. So far just practicing my flaking, coiling and knots. Feels great in the hands and grabs quickly in the gri-gri. Looking forward to years of use in the field. Happy climbing!
So bad I’m swearing off BD
Not worth the money. I’ve never had a rope like this where it physically refuses to stay in a straight line. I’ve taken this rope out a couple times now and it always gets twisted. I’ve only had very cheap ropes do this to me before. This and their shoes have made me swear of BD climbing soft goods.
Love it!
This rope strikes the perfect balance between "thick enough to feel safe and small enough to really enjoy lead climbing. When you're hauling rope up a 30M lead the lightness is really noticeable. Feeds really nicely through my ATC and GriGri
Great look, great feel, great rope!
Only had it out for about 2 weeks so far, but the comments from climbing partners have been enthusiastic. The rope has a smooth finish when new and feeds very easily through a Grigri. The color pops in photos too! Super pleased so far!
Very nice rope
This rope is so light and thin! It's almost as thin as my 8.5 mm double ropes, but you can tell that it's super strong also. It will definitely take weight off of my overall pack, but still give me confidence to take whips on it.
Light and versatile rope.
I bought this rope to guide clients on multi pitch routes. I like it a lot because it is very light and still rated as a single rope. It runs well on the atc guide when belaying and it is very fast to coil and manage in general.
Awesome rope
This is the second 70m Honnold rope I’ve owned. These are great ropes, great diameter. The only suggestion would be to make this a two pattern rope, half one pattern and half another. That is always preferred.
