perfect for my kind of riding
I have a cyclocross/gravel bike that I ride 60/40 pavement/off-road. While my stock tires were much chunkier like what you'd see on a mountain bike, I was look for something slicker but not too "roadie" either. Enter GravelKing SS. The middle is grippy but not ultra slick, and the edge treads make it perfect for dirt and gravel. I ride tubeless and setup was a little bit difficult, but the ride makes it worth it.
Work well but run really big
After ~200 miles of all surfaces they work well enough but a) hardest tire I’ve ever mounted tubeless and b) they run pretty big. The 35 measured in at 38.2mm and the 32 measured in at 33.5mm.
I've been running these both tubed and tubeless on my gravel and rain bikes for years. I get about 4000 miles on them, then the center is worn and prone to punctures - but this is where tubeless helps ;) They are hard to seat tubeless but work really well once mounted. Great for road and hardpacked gravel, but not enough center tread for loose gravel or offroad.
Nice Ride
Got these to ride the Mickelson Trail and they were super on the crushed limestone. Have also now logged 150+ miles on mixed use trails including some dirt but mostly hard/paved where they have been absolutely fine. Looking forward to many more miles and adventures.
Ultimate ‘Cyclocross tires…!
These tires went on a Fuji ‘Cross bike with a high modulus carbon frame~ fast and light, but stiff. The 700-35 Gravel Kings ride better and absorb road shock, and running them at lower pressures, like 45-50 psi, still enabled a quick ride, excellent traction, and capability to go on dirt and gravel. Great for today’s dual purpose bikes.
Great fast tires
Great semi slick gravel tires. very fast on pavement and hardpack. Having a blast bombing around with these. Note the tires run big. Not for heavy mud, deep sand, or deep gravel. But very grippy especially on steep uphill trails, way more than anticipated. Have had no punctures for the first 600 miles.
New Tires
Love these new tires. Feel great and work well in the gravel as well as on pavement.
fast, smooth, great
I am so impressed with these tires. I thought they would be a little slow and stiff, but they are not. I only have 50 miles on them, so I cannot comment on durability. They are fast.
