They are comfy right out of the box- however the mud does not wipe off like it generally does on any other pair of boots I own. I’ve got 50 miles on them so far. They seem permanently stained with mud but feel pretty good. I’d say only medium ankle stability.
Great for someone who does moderate hiking. I went through a few different pairs of hiking shoes when I finally landed on these. The look was unexpected but I love that they are lightweight, have great arch support, waterproof and breathable. The grip is also great on the trail. I find that these are great for stability.
I really liked these boots. The footbed is very contoured to really cradle the foot. There was good foot protection on the soles and good traction. The arch support was a little too high for me but I could of gotten used to it. My problem was that the ankle height was a little too high for me so it caused pressure when I walked. Very well made though so I was disappointed to have to return them.
My first pair of Oboz were the Sawtooths and they were too tight. I sometimes have problems with 8/8.5’s not fitting due to heel issues or a tight toebox. A employee at REI recommended these and I started off with a 10 mile hike with them - both my friend and I were amazed. No blisters, no heel issues, and my toes felt comfortable in the just-right spacious toebox. I feel the ankle support is a little wobbly (literally only reason I’m giving them a 4/5), but I’m looking into tying them different for maximum support! For medium hikers - these are lightweight, comfortable, and straight up reliable. The only downside is they are neon blue, so if anyone wants a shoe that does show much “dirt wear” - go for something where dirt won’t be so easy to see. But honestly, it’s a hiking boot! Looking forward to dirtying these guys up more. Highly recommend.
So far, I've done 2 hikes in the snow- one 5 miles, the other 8. My feet stayed warm and dry, even after walking through a few shallow streams. Comfortable, even with arthritic feet!
I usually purchase Salomon hiking shoes, but could not find the ones I wanted in stock, so I tried these instead after being recommended Oboz as a brand for narrow feet by a salesperson at my local REI. I wore them around the house to confirm the fit and then out on the trails. They are very comfortable, warm, and kept my feet bone dry, but (and a big but), every single time I have used them on a hike longer than 8 miles, I have developed the worst blisters. Blisters in all the "normal" places along with places I did not know you could blister - bottom of my toes, between my toes, back of the heel, side of the foot, both sides of my heels. Blisters so bad I could barely walk. I tried changing socks mid hike, lacing my shoes differently to "lock" my heel, but nothing helped. My feet and heels are narrow, so maybe these are just not the shoes/brand for me. I wish so much they had worked out because otherwise they were great.
Too narrow for me - put them on and it was immediately clear they were getting returned, as my feet were hanging over the edges of the shoes in the ball of the foot! Not great shoes for high-volume feet, but if that doesn't describe you I bet you'd like them - seemed like good hiking boots otherwise!
These are awesome! Super comfortable from the first day using them. Great arch support, lightweight, and waterproof. They also gave good traction. I would highly recommend for anyone in the market for a hiking boot.
Great ankle support, arch support was a little flat. The hiker boots run small but these run normal size. Love the color!
The adhesive holding on the dark blue upper completely peeled after only 2 uses. No response on a warranty claim through Oboz and REI wants me to pay return shipping. Never again.
