bike great, build iffy
Bike rides great, handles singletrack, gravel well albeit being a bit harsh. Gearing is especially nice going off road. Was a little concerned about how the bike was built and packed by REI - it didn't look like the front derailleur was set up at all, the chain dropped off every time I shifted to the outer ring until I fixed it. The bits (tubeless valves, etc) that came with the bike were also just tossed into the box without being in a bag, I probably lost of some of them in the nooks and crannies of the cardboard box.
Great Ride- plenty of gears, smooth braking
I rode lots of bikes in this price range before choosing the Topstone 2 Women’s bike. Most of the bikes I rode at the $2k price level had similar components to this bike with this bike priced at $1725 and I cannot tell any difference. Love the Shimano GRX 400 components— plenty of gears for the big downhills and uphills on the road. And those hydraulic disk brakes—wow! They are so smooth! I ride mostly on the road and local greenways and this bike is well suited for that. Don’t do much off-roading. I ride about 10 miles after work every day and 15-20 on Saturdays and Sundays. and look forward to it with this bike!
Great bike for trails and dirt roads.
I love this bike. I wanted a gravel grinder for dirt roads and longer distance rides when I'm not on my road bikes. This fits me well and is a great addition to my collection. It's also my first bike with disc brakes, which I feel confident using in the wet weather. I've had the bike for just over a year now and wanted to wait before I wrote a review. I am hoping to put a rack on soon and take a road trip hauling my gear. I live in the north where the roads are sanded during winter and this bike gets me out there earlier in the season for longer rides. I am very happy with the performance and riding the Topstone 2.
Disappointing
In the inaugural ride the bike and rider fell from a stopped position and broke the derailleur hanger. Every aftermarket derailleur hanger would cross thread with the rear axel, so I bought a new rear axel. I confirmed that the parts threaded correctly off of the bike, but once installed the axel would cross thread again. The bike was returned in the end.
Very capable gravel bike for a solid price
The Topstone Alloy 2 is well. spec'd for the price. This is a FUN bike! If you're looking for a gravel bike, this is a very solid choice. The bike handles nimbly, accelerates well and is very capable both on tarmac and gravel.
amazing
I am so grateful to have been able to find this bike on REI, I absolutely love it, I have so much control, it is so light, and I really enjoy riding this.. fantastic, I had it shipped to the store and they assembled it for free. THANKS REI
