My new Cannondale Topstone 3 GRX came with WTB i25 rims laced to Shimano hubs. The bike and the hubs are awesome, but the WTB rims are terrible. It is nearly impossible to remove a tire from these rims. The rims have a raised bump in the channel shoulder that prevents the bead of the tire from dropping into the deep part of the channel. There is no way to remove the tire unless you can get the beads of the tire up and over this raised bump. I know this is not a tire issue because I’ve tried different brands and models of tires with the same result. The only way to get the bead of the tire up and over the raised bump is to use sharp screw drivers which will destroy the tire and the rim tape. I called WTB Tech Support for a recommendation on a non-petroleum-based lubricant to apply to the raised bump. Tech Support would not recommend a lubricant and proceeded to tell me that I don’t know how to change a tire. This after fixing at least 100 flats over my 50 years of cycling. Buyer beware, avoid these rims if at all possible.
