I've had fun riding this bike around town and also on some easy trails. There's nothing to complain about with the bike frame, seat, handlebars, pedals, etc. For the price, it's just fine in these areas. I did have an issue with the Shimano Acera rear derailleur, however. I've only ridden several hundred miles on the bike. The chain seemed to have too much slack when coasting downhill and started having some shifting glitches as well. Finally, today i was shifting and the rear derailleur actually just fell off the bike! It was shocking to say the least. So I'm giving 3 stars for the time being, and depending on how the issue gets resolved I'll edit this review.
I’m starting out as a mountain bike rider and my research had included that Cannondale bikes are a decent entry level bike. REI had this model marked down in price and so I thought I’d try it out. The bike rides smooth along with smooth shifting. The seat is a little hard on the backside but once you become conditioned it doesn’t make that much of a difference. It’s easy to maneuver on trails and the brakes work well around turns and on significant drops. I also ride it through the developments in the neighborhood during the week and it rides well on the pavement. I look forward to many rides with it.
Great entry+ trail, unpaved road, off road grass/gravel, or paved trail bike. Go with the sizing per Cannondale website and then look on YouTube to adjust seat height, seat forward aft position. I went with Large at first and it was slightly too small. Exchanged for XL frame and REI made it really easy and good exchange! Glad I bought at REI. Once I got XL home adjusted brake lever and shifter lever position, seat height, and seat a little backward. Now I don't have numb hands or pelvic area and legs feel even work on quads and hamstrings. Get the correct size and fiddle around with adjustments..it makes a good positive difference. I like the Cannondale trail 6. Nice bike so far. Decent gearing for riding on flat road/trail and good gearing for off road or up trail or up hills.
Ordered this bike on Rei.com for pick up at my local store. Went today to get bike and realized that many of the components were unbranded! The brakes were supposed to be Tektro but mine had no label. The rear derailer was supposed to be Shimano but mine said Muzzo - some offshoot Chinese brand. Can’t believe REI is selling this bike with different specs. Ultimately Cannondale clearly has a problem here of hoping no one catches this or something nefarious is going on in the supply chain.
I’m a 5’10” male and when I bought the cannon dale trail 6 hard tail I was impressed. It’s a medium bike and I ride a large usually. This bike is like a sports car, it’ll take you wear you want to go with ease. The gears are tight and smooth, shifts with no slippage. Turns tighter and sharper than the large bikes. Even though I bought it for my Neice I can’t wait to go riding with her to show her what this bike can do.
The geometry just fits and the bike feels more comfortable to ride than any others in this price range. Ride and shifts are smooth, brakes are strong and riding position feels just right.
Came in a few weeks ago and bought one of these Trail 6 bikes. As the guy was getting it ready for me, I noticed the disc brakes had no identification on them. They're supposed to be Tektro, but the brakes on my Trail 6 were a complete mystery. There was no label at all. So having no clue what I was taking home with me, I cancelled the sale. Salesman agreed with me and said he was baffled too. So we ordered another one in the hopes that it would come in with the right parts on it. Went up yesterday to pick it up (5/3/23) and sure enough, no Tektro brakes on it. It has the same mystery brakes that the first one had. So I cancelled that order too. I'm not spending my hard earned dollars on a bike with random no-name parts on it. So, buyer beware, check your bike before you leave the store and make sure you're getting what you paid for. In this case, I wasn't...twice. So no Trail 6 for me. Still on the hunt for a good mountain bike. Wish me luck!
This bike performed well for the type of riding I do. The gears were no issue, they shifted perfect. Up and downhill. 100% recommended to beginners
As a novice, this fits my need for having a solid dependable bike that I can ride on trails or long distances on greenways.
I bought this bike 3 months ago and it’s a awesome bike for the price! I ride this bike hard and it holds up good. Upgraded to tubeless tires and rims and some Chester pedals with ergon grips and this bike is amazing. The fork is great you just have to tune it a bit to get the most of it. But when you do, your going to feel like 100mm of travel is perfect. I find myself ride this bike more then my 130mm travel bike. Also the 2x drivetrain is great. At first glance I thought that I was going to have a hard time with it but I was wrong. I had no chain drop and the gear ratio is great for the climbing I do. And yes 1x Drivetrain would be better but you really don’t need it you can use a old inertube as a chain stay protector. This bike is perfect. Yes you are limited to fork options. But there is still a lot of good forks in the market like a suntor 120mm air fork. But if your in a budget like I am. The 100mm fork is perfect. Also I just love hardtails.
