I decided that this summer would be the one to get back into bike riding. Nothing too extreme. A combination of pavement and trail riding. This bike fit my needs perfectly. Gear shifting is seamless and intuitive one you familiarize yourself the the setup. The ease of seat height adjustment and front shocks was exactly what I needed to make the ride smoother. I have no negatives for this choice if you are someone looking to get back into riding.
For it's price, I give it 5 stars. Drove down to the REI in ABQ with intent to purchase an entry level mountain bike. The people in the store were very helpful, showing me several bikes to consider at different price points and pointing out the features one receives when paying more. This bike does not seem to have name brand components, but that has not seemed to be an issue for me. After testing this one against a more expensive alternative I concluded this bike would meet my needs. I have ridden it on pavement, formal trails, and the informal trails across the sage brush in Taos. Today I put it on the chairlift at Taos Ski Valley to come down some challenging trails, and was not disappointed with the bike, though I only went down green and a little of a blue run. Was very happy with my REI shopping experience. My first bike with a dropper seat, and I really like that for informal trail riding as its great to adjust seat hike as conditions vary.
First Mtb it's smooth as butter cookies. Had this bad boy for a year and it still runs like the day I bought it.
