Amazing concept that does not follow through.
This fan is a complete waste of money. With the fan on the highest setting and the "mist" on continuous flow, the only way that you feel anything is if you hold it right next to your face; and then you only feel the fan, not the mist. Via the instruction manual, "Ultrasonic Technology - the integrated misting fan/humidifier uses ultrasonic high frequency technology to convert the water into 1-5 million micro-sized particles that are dispensed into the air to produce a visible, micro-fine cool mist." Yes, the mist is visible which is kind of cool, but you cannot feel any moisture. Amazing concept, but the desired result of a cool mist blowing in your face falls completely flat. And then there is the instruction manual, which is way too complicated to make $49 worth the purchase. EVERY day of use you are required to "Empty and rinse the inside of the water reservoir before refilling [and] wipe the misting fan with a soft damp cloth." In addition to every week of use, "use a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and lukewarm water to clean the inside of the water reservoir and other wet parts." I am very adamant about keeping my gear in top condition by making sure that it is clean and dry and applying seam sealer/zipper lubricant when it is needed and regularly applying a water repellent, but needing to follow those exact rules will become old fast. A major annoyance is that I have used the fan twice, both times wiping down everything that is wet like it says, and a small batch of air bubbles have still formed on the reservoir viewing window. I, and you, would be better off buying the typical $5 misting fan that most stores sell with the fan attached to a spray bottle. That fan is more powerful, the mist actually cools you off, and it is almost $45 cheaper. I absolutely do not recommend this fan. The concept is great, but the fan is a complete waste of money.
5 Stars
Quite ingenious little devices. Just received them, and promptly placed them in our cruiser for a walk on a hot, humid day. Our kids stayed both cooler and more entertained by the nifty cups blowing mist. They're a bit of an investment, but they will be used frequently. Good thing we have extra cup holders to hold our plethora of drinks on our walks.
