Delicious chili mac - even my picky kid loved it!
We only bought one of these and I wish I had bought more! The pasta was tender, and the chili was tasty. I would just recommend adding a little extra water. Maybe 1/4 cup more. It was a bit on the dry side to be considered chili. My kid who loves starch (and would eat nothing but pasta, rice, and potatoes if I let her), was a big fan of this and she even liked the beans! I would definitely buy this again.
My Go-To Favorite
This is delicious, and the consistency/texture is great with the suggested volume of boiling water. One gripe... why did your graphic designers make the instructions in absolutely tiny print, in a low contrast color (gray-on-black)? "Let's make the most important part of the packaging virtually impossible for the end user to read in low light!".
Best vegan backpacking meal
I am not a big fan of most vegan backpacking meals, but this one actually tastes delicious. It’s a tiny bit spicy, super filling, and has 30 grams of protein.
Very filling!
Overall a fine meal full of all the nutrients you need after a day or hiking. Missing a bit of flavor, but perfect with some hot sauce!
Yes!!
This is my favorite trail meal out there! It can be difficult to find good vegan freeze-dried meals and this one fits the bill and exceeds it. I bring this on every trip because there's nothing that tops it. I would eat this at home. Only note would be that it definitely required more water than it calls for. I eyeball it but definitely use more.
"Delicious!"
My son (10) RAVES about this one. He had it backpacking the Ozette Loop and has since begged to have it, not just on every trip, but home at night for dinner! He easily ate both servings. He chose the title. It's wonderful to have some filling vegan meals!
disappointing
I have tried several other Peak Refuel meals and thought them tasty, though expensive. But this meal left me completely unimpressed. Mediocre flavor especially for such an expensive meal. Would not buy again.
Delicious & Filling
Took these on a 5-day trip to Rae Lakes in California and they were amazing! Very delicious and filling. Definitely the best dehydrated vegan backpacking mean I've had yet. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
RIP pit toilet
Tasty, but make sure you have your toilet paper at the ready
Not very tasty
This meal was kind of disappointing. It tasted bland and hurt my stomach when I was trying to sleep, so not great for camping. I eat beans and cheese every day so i don't know what the problem was. If I were to buy it again I would probably add some cayenne to make it more flavorful. On the bright side, it was a lot of food for one person so at least you won't go hungry!
