The lenses are stunning and it’s great to have a low light lens included. However the plastic clip at the back of the strap is cheap and very delicate. Also the goggle bag barely fits the goggle with its extra lens. It’s a pain to get put away at the end of the day and frustrating when a goggle bag 10% larger would totally fix this. Just know you are paying for the lens and know Smith has completely cheaped out on the rest of the package
The silicone on the strap turned into soft, gooey glue, ruining my helmet.
Primarily use the Yellow/Amber(Storm Yellow Flash) Lens and it has held up well enough even when bashing through the occasional low hanging branch. The Everyday Green lens mostly hangs out in the goggle bag and before I even had a chance to use it the outside coating had already worn off in a spot right in the middle of the lens. I really love the ease of changing lenses but Smith needs to produce more durable lens coatings for the darker lenses.
I picked these up this season as a replacement for some 2-3yo I/Os that I've always liked but thought I purchased a size too small. I run an XL helmet and the side-to-side fit wasn't quite right on the old goggles, lots of air coming through either side. These new I/O Mag XL's are great so far. Excellent FOV and the "fill" the gap on either side better. The mag attachment is bomber. I have zero worries I'll lose a lens. I'm patrol at my local mountain and low light lenses are great for end of day sweep when the light is getting low up here near 49degrees N where it gets dark early in the beginning of the season. Somehow, magically, the low light lenses seem to brighten up reality! Great lenses, cool look.
I love these goggles! I impulse bought them after my other pair of $40 smith goggles kept fogging/icing up when I was out skiing. I was pretty reluctant to spend the money on them, but I'm really glad I did. I tried the XL and regular size on in-store and opted for the XL since I was on the border between the sizes. They fit perfectly with my Smith helmet (size small) and haven't fogged up or had any issues at all the last few times I've been out.
This was the first pair of Smith goggles I have purchased and I was super disappointed. These are very comfortable and I like the look of them, but the biggest disappointment was the fog. Moisture found its was inside the lenses and fogged them up so bad I couldn’t see. I couldn’t wipe them off either since the moisture was in between the two lenses. I will be exchanging for a different brand. I do not recommend this product
These things are beautiful! So slick looking great peripheral view. Easy to swap the lenses and super comfortable.
Great pair of goggles. Wore them OTG with my prescription glasses, and it fits even with a fairly large frame. The venting system paired with a Smith helmet worked great while riding, but my glasses would fog under the goggles when I was stopped. Extremely comfortable, and the everyday lenses were great for sunny days. Also, very easy to swap to the storm lenses if it started snowing. Has a fairly steep price, but is honestly worth every penny.
I bought these goggles for my BF for Christmas, he wore them once... and the goggles already have chipped paint? I tried reaching out, no one has gotten back to me, and it seems near impossible to get ANYONE to respond or find a phone number to speak to someone. This has been terrible service, for something I paid a premium for. / I had goggles from here that are over 7 years old and never had this chipped paint issue.
Let me premise this with saying these goggles work OK, but, I guess???, without a matching Smith helmet, they let in lots of wind to dry your eyes. Now I have to buy a $250 helmet????? How can a goggle that costs hundreds of dollars have inept instructions? This one does. Junk. They explain how to install the lens, but not how to remove. You want to call me incompetent? I am a mechanical engineer with 40 years of experience with 13 patents. Here are the instructions: "begin by pinching nose of frame together and inserting lens into lens groove around nose bridge. Once nose are has been properly secured, lock the frame down around the entire lens ensuring that lens keyholes line up with posts in the lens groove." Ok, to pinch the nose requires way more strength than I have. There are no "keyholes" in the lens so worthless. There are no posts in the lens groove so worthless. I can get one side hook to lock in, but cannot get the other side to lock no matter how I bend and try to force it. Also, there are no instructions on how to remove the lens. I ended up just muscling it out, hoping I would not break something. Smith and REI, get real and design correctly and have a real user experience writer tell how to do it,.
