I bought and compared this with the Giro Avera helmet. While both fit my medium (22.5") head with the adjustable headband, the Neo fits a taller/longer head while the Avera seems shallower to fit a shorter head. I got the matte harbor blue, and it is a lovely peacock color. Inner foam is removable. My only complaint is the chin strap is sewed down on one side thus cannot be slid to center under my chin. I haven't worn this skiing yet, but it seems protective and nice!
Medium fit great! I was able to wear a thin beanie under it.
Got this for my partner for snowboarding in a Medium. His head circumference is 58cm (~22.8inches). He has curly hair that he wears about an inch long, so we considered a Large instead since his head is close to the higher limit of Medium, but he's happy with the M since it's snug without being too tight.
Finally found right fit with this helmet. Tried other brands before and the fit was not right. This helmet has a snug fit without being too tight and is very comfortable at the same time. Also it is lighter than some others. I like adjustable vents too - help me dial the right warmth while skiing. The delivery was also fast - thank you REI!
I bought this for winter fat biking. I’ve already worn it in temperatures ranging from 15-50F and it has done great at keeping me warm, but not too hot or cold.
Comfortable and warm helmet. Didn’t need a beanie under it. Love being able to open or close the vents and adjust the tension. I did a bit of research and this helmet was a good balance of features, comfort, and price. Great helmet as I’m just starting out
This helmet feels high quality. It does cut out noise, but I’ve gotten used to it and I can still hear well enough. I had similar frustrations about the removable ear covers, then realized there are unmarked right and left, so if they aren’t snapping in fully, switch them and try again. Happy that I can adjust it for different layers I’ll wear on my head.
This is good fitting helmet, and I like the internal adjustments that allowed me to move the helmet back slighly on my head to allow room for goggles. Some concerns that cause me to rate this two stars: The ear covers just don't provide much warmth. Just returned from a multi-day trip with conditions ranging from single digits to low 30s. Single digits forget about it. I had to use a balaclava over the helmet and anything else I could get around my ears. Even lower 30s my ears were cold. I just retired a 20 yr old Leedom helmet that was much warmer. This is probably more Spring conditions suitable. Other concerns: The vent lever is cheap plastic and sticky, and the chin strap sleeve allows the strap to get all twisted, it isn't the best quality.
Helmet is great. Perfect fit according to size. Adjustable wheel works great to adjust on the fly when you need to loosen or tighten (like when adding your balaclava etc). Comfortable to wear and not heavy. Would buy again.
We purchased two of these helmets and chose this particular one for the comfort and ease of the strap. We skied with them for 5 full days this season and never had a point where they became uncomfortable. We would certainly recommend this helmet. In addition, the top adjustable vents come in handy.
