This is my second pair of low Sypes. I wear them as my every day pair, as well as for outside chore work and disc golf. I find Oboz stand up to the abuse better than most waterproof hiking shoes in the same price range. This pair of oboz in particular lasted much longer than the other oboz I have tried in the past (probably 3 or 4 different waterproof models). I am very rough on my shoes. Most pairs only last me about 6 months. These lasted almost 2 years. As with the rest of my Oboz, my latest pair eventually had a hole form near/above the toe.
I wanted to really like these, great looking and soul has my town map! But they are falling apart too quickly. Front rubber coming away from shoe, i guess bad glue or not enough. But the most annoying part is the heal support. On one of the shoes it has collapsed and digs into my heel a bit. No reason why, just no stong enough i guess. I wouldn't purchase again.
I like the appearance and comfort of these shoes. The waterproof feature has worked as expected. Unfortunately less than a year after purchase the show started falling apart. The front rubber toe broke away from the rest of the shoe. Also the material around the ankle has worn thin with holes. I expected to wear the soles down smooth before the shoe fell apart.
Things I love about this shoe: light weight, great traction, excellent foot-bed, water proof without being too hot. Things I don't love: I've only had one issue with this shoe but its enough of a bother to send them back. The outside edge of the tongue feels like it may have too much stuffing sewed into it. Its not painful and doesn't cause any blisters, but I can feel it all the time and its irritating enough to send them back. Its unfortunate, because I really love the rest of the shoe. If they ever get this issue fixed I'll be the first to purchase another pair!
This is a great shoe. I've had it for a month now walking 4-5 miles per day on pavement, uneven grass fields, and dirt trail. I use it around the house, running errands around town, and light trail use. To me, it's more of a shoe than a hiking shoe like Oboz Bridger or Firebrand which I both have. Fits that middle ground nicely between rugged hiker and a tennis shoe like feel. Very well constructed. I love Oboz! Quality company!
I tore my Achilles tendon about 18 months ago, and that aggravated what was already chronic pain in my quadriceps (the muscle group above the knee) and lower back. But the injury and mounting pain also got me looking much harder at the shoes I was wearing. I discovered in physical therapy that my right leg was approx 1/4" longer than my left, but also that my ankles tended to rock back and forth ("supinate" and "pronate") excessively. Long story short: These Sypes are amazingly stable, control the rocking, and the knee and back pain are radically reduced. I don't use 'em for trail hiking but walk 2-3 miles a day on paved roads and love them. Wear them around the house, too. They're tight/narrow in the heel but wide in the ball of the foot, which I think is what makes them work so well for me.
These look really good on, and have really comfortable uppers. Typical Oboz footbed. A touch hard on the underfoot, but good support. I think they would get really comfortable over the first few wears. They probably wouldve been my everyday shoe. Unfortunately I didnt get to that point because i was just in-between a 12 and 13. They seem to run just a touch small.. and they don't make a 12.5. I usually wear a 12.
Overall the shoe was a great fitting shoe. I really enjoyed the cushion on the shoe and during my use i didn't experience any hotspots on the heel or the toe area. The quality is very much the same as my hiking boots but definitely on teh lighter weight size. I did seem to encounter a slight issue around where the tongue of the shoe is sewn to the shoe walls. Im not sure if it was the stitching or something else but after a bit on just my right shoe it seemed to feel like something was poking and rubbing the top part of my foot. I think overall though wearing a s lightly thicker sock might mitigate this as well as just spending more time breaking them in and making sure the shoe is laced tight. Since it was just the one shoe i seemed to experience it on wasn't a big deal and just a bit of adjusting seemed to help. The quality and construction of the shoe seems to be pretty on par with a lot of their boot lines which i can appreciate.
Smaller than other Oboz I currently have. I ordered same size as a pair form 3 years ago that I still use everyday at work. This pair was just to tight. I will return and get another model. I do hope they have improved the wet traction issue from my current pair. When wet the sole is like ice, otherwise great shoes.
Decently supportive shoe that appears somewhat casual despite a nice hiking foundation. Unfortunately, they run narrow and there's no venting option (all leather). Even with a wide version, I had a decent about of discomfort.
